To me that's simply running out of the way of a loose tile that's about to drop (on another loose).
Perhaps I'm underestimating the uniqueness of the moves?

The intended solution for level 2 of my mod involved this, but someone found an easier solution.

I don't know if this is actually a trick, but worth mentioning... Norbert, you can put this to popot if you think this is a trick, at least I didn't know about it.
When you land on spikes, with a gate just next to it, you don't get hurt even if you land on spikes. Please test with right side, didn't try...

If I simply flip the room then the prince will jump right *over* the spikes.
That's because the gate will still be on the right edge of its tile, and thus there will be a spike-free floor section between the spikes and the gate.
See the green floor in the screenshot:

If I replace the gate with a wall after the flipping, then the trick will work in the same way as before flipping:
The prince will bump into the wall instead of being spiked.
