Tenet

Post by Norbert »

I can't wait to see Tenet.
Hopefully it won't disappoint.
I didn't like Nolan's Dunkirk, but generally really enjoy his films.

August 26 seems very likely now, at least for my country.

Dunkirk was a bit disappointing, a very clean and English-oriented way to see what was a slaughter (and forgetting to show the sacrifice of French soldiers who slowed down the German army to allow the English to escape). After the extraordinary Interstellar, well, it was a forgettable movie.

This Tenet seems to have some Philip K. Dick influences, so I'm interested :)

The final trailer.

Personally, I did not enjoy this trailer at all because of what to me is bad music. Terrible music choice, in my opinion. I literally checked three times to make sure the trailer I was watching was really posted on the official Warner Bros. channel. Song is "The Plan" by Travis Scott.

And, you know, I also don't get why this is yet another Tenet trailer where the protagonists talk about crashing a plane, only for the trailer audience to immediately after that see the actual plane crash - or, at least, a big chunk of it. IGN comments here that "even the already famous Boeing 747 sequence feels subdued; impressive more for its audacity than its onscreen results". Clearly whoever makes these trailers thinks the Boeing-thing is impressive because a real plane was crashed into a building in real life, but it's a boring sequence. A CGI crash would've been both cheaper and more impactful. And revealing the actual crash in the trailer nullifies any effect the in-trailer conversation about dramatically crashing a plane could have had. I wouldn't even describe it as a crash. Factually, sure, it's a collision between the plane vehicle and building object, but other than the fake(?) mini-explosions the plane doesn't look all that damaged to me. The crash does not deliver on what according to the protagonist would be dramatic.

Here's the United Arab Emirates version of the final trailer.
It has music that fits the trailer better.

I just saw Tenet. To me it was mediocre and not worth ever rewatching.
The film is impressive in many ways, such as its technical aspects, but it simply didn't make me feel anything.
