Polish soccer club Śląsk Wrocław recently introduced their new player Farshad Ahmadzadeh, who's originally from Iran, with a PoP skit.

Not sure what this person is claiming here:

I don't get how it's related to PoP.
Maybe it's a 'joke'.

I'm not sure if this belongs into this topic, but it's about a PoP image, so...

RetroArch comes with a set of blurred images showing a screenshot from an iconic game from each emulated system.
On Windows they are installed here: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\RetroArch\assets\wallpapers\emulationstation blured\1280x720\

Now, it seems that they chose PoP for the Apple II screenshot:
RetroArch.jpg
(Hrm, they also chose Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, even though that port is usually considered to be one of the worst games of all time. I guess the quality of the game was not the most important thing when they chose the screenshots.)

(A funny coincidence is that the WonderSwan picture shows the only game for that system that I played. What is the chance of this?... It's specifically this screenshot.)

Probably not much of a coincidence, as they didn't randomly pick games.
For instance, Pac-Man for Atari 2600 was ranked by IGN as that system's #1 best-selling game. (Plus, this game (and E.T.) are frequently blamed for the 1983 video game crash.)
PoP is recognizable (these blue walls) and retro-gamers may know it was first released for Apple II.
Similar stories for the other games; probably also for Moonlight Museum.

I also thought so.

Yes, I have heard the story. :)

By the way, they used this screenshot: https://www.mobygames.com/game/apple2/p ... Id,423475/

Wikipedia has some lists here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_ ... y_platform
Most of the shown games are indeed #1 on the list (sometimes #2 or #3).
Too bad that Wikipedia doesn't have lists for all systems. For example, Genesis is the only Sega system with a list.

For the WonderSwan / Moonlight Museum I have found this: http://swan-of-wonders.weebly.com/sales-data.html and this: https://web.archive.org/web/20080624133 ... 990611.htm
The first page places it #37, the second page says it was #10 on all systems together, with no other WonderSwan game on the list.

(But first you need to run Update Assets in RetroArch.)

You can also find the images online here: http://buildbot.libretro.com/assets/fro ... /1280x720/

I guess it is a "joke"; it's probably based on how that picture looks somewhat "pixelated" if you look close enough.
By the way, I recently found a forum thread about The History of Pixel Art, and it mentions methods of "analog" pixel art, like mosaics, tapestries, cross-stitching, pointilism, beads, etc. That reminded me of this Twitter post.

Speaking of pixel art; I recently found a pixel art gallery, and it has some PoP-related pictures:

http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/100824.htm -- PoP SNES chibi.
You already found this on dA: viewtopic.php?p=23472#p23472

This looks like the icon of General Stuff on the main page of our forum.

http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/122416.htm -- Retro Mockup - Prince of Persia
The people on this one are also somewhat chibified.

http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/53710.htm -- Prince of tetris
Animated. The prince in a room shaped like a Tetris piece.

http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/120925.htm -- 64 video games collab
PoP is allegedly one of the 64 depicted games, but I can't find it. Maybe someone else can?
Btw, I don't even know whether they mean the original PoP or the new trilogy.
There is also some Russian text on the picture: "На память о том, что когда-то любили" / "На память о том, что, возможно, забудем"
Google translates this as: "In memory of what was once loved" / "In memory of what may be forgotten"

http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/25698.htm -- underground
I'm not sure if this is PoP, but it's quite similar with the skeletons, spikes, torches and level doors.

Manoss recently designed something new for TeePublic (TP Apparel).
A PoP variation of The Little Prince.
Also available as sticker and other stuff.

They already had these on their website:
https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/23048 ... -of-persia
https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/84907 ... -of-persia
That last one has a non-existing room.

From here. It's a spoof of the Insult Sword Fighting (info, more) of The Secret of Monkey Island.
