princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Changed the maximum allowed attachment size on this forum from 1 to 5 MB.
I had already made this change for the general settings year(s) ago, but apparently I also had to make this change for each attachment group.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
On the forum, I've changed this sub-board...
PoP Games -> Prince of Persia 1 for DOS -> FreePrince
...into this regular board...
PoP Games -> Prince of Persia 1 - Remakes (FreePrince et al.)
I think this change is justified, given how many threads about PoP1 remakes are on this forum.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
The chat history now has the latest messages at the bottom, just like the regular forum shoutbox itself.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
phpBB, this forum's software, recently had a new major release, namely version 3.1.
Next weekend (8/9 November) I will update the software from 3.0.x to 3.1.x.
There will be some downtime, but it shouldn't be more than a couple of hours.

I'm (obviously) still working on it, but we're now using the latest phpBB.Norbert wrote:phpBB, this forum's software, recently had a new major release, namely version 3.1.

I'll add the shoutbox, Facebook section, Princed logo and other things soon.
[Edit: I will continue working on this tomorrow. The shoutbox mod is not compatible with 3.1.x, so I'm going to try to rewrite its code to work anyways. If it won't work I'll add a standalone shoutbox to the forum.]
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
The forum tells me that there is one unread post from Norbert (2012 October 01, 13:30:41) in the Polish forum.
But when I open the Polish forum, I don't see anything newer than 2012 February.
There is also a message saying "You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum."
If I want to open the unread post itself, I get an error "You are not authorised to read this forum."
(I don't speak Polish, but others may also meet this bug.)

This should be fixed now.David wrote:The forum tells me that there is one unread post from Norbert (2012 October 01, 13:30:41) in the Polish forum.

Setting phpBB's user and forum permissions is always a pain.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
I still get the same errors.
(And I see you just added an AJAX Chat.)

phpBB had not yet properly applied my changes.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Now it works.
It seems that this "new" post is the "DO NOT discuss or link to piracy/warez sites and files" announcement.
Why is it in the Polish forum?
I know it appears in every category, but the topic listing says "» in Polski", and the breadcrumb says "Board index < International < Polski".

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Dunno, maybe in past versions of phpBB global announcements were not part of any boards, and the update decided to dump it in Polski for whatever reason.David wrote:I know it appears in every category, but the topic listing says "» in Polski", and the breadcrumb says "Board index < International < Polski".
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
It's irritating to see a big fat non-functional AJAX chat taking up so much space at the top of every single page on the forum:

Can't we have an option to hide/minimize it and then keep it that way if one doesn't care for it?

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Apparently that's because of bots that keep logging in.
I've emptied the table that keeps track of logged in users.

What kind of bots are they?Norbert wrote:Apparently that's because of bots that keep logging in.
Spambots, or search engine bots that we see at viewonline.php ?
Maybe something else?
I just noticed that there is a "Change username" under "Online users" in the Chat.
