Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Can you remove the broken shoutbox from the bottom of the index page?
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
There seems to be a poll/thread that indicates that most folks would like a working shoutbox for registered users.Andrew wrote:Can you remove the broken shoutbox from the bottom of the index page?
Maybe I should try to fix it, instead of remove it?
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Okay, I have disabled it.programmer wrote:This one should have been deleted, [...]
I will try to find another shoutbox that is still being supported by its author.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
It's now possible to add acronyms to posts, which can sometimes be useful, IMO.
When creating a post, move your mouse over the acronym button for help on how to add them.
Something else: it's possible to give phpBB boards icons. Is that something we want? Not huge icons, but small 32x32 icons to add a little color.
This could be the base image: http://postimage.org/image/5xiptgzel/
The we could have: PoP1 (or maybe use the cover art instead), PoP2 (or the cover art), Warrior Within, Sands of Time, Two Thrones, Forgotten Sands, and so on.
Announcements could have a megaphone, Tools a wrench, and so forth.
We could create anything by simply cutting a 28x28 pixels circle out of a (scaled) image and pasting it on the base image.
Also, maybe someone can design a 'Prince of Persia community forum' logo that we could use instead of the phpBB logo.
The PrincedProject logo (this one) could be used, but that wouldn't really cover the forum's current purpose(/condition/state).

How about this one:Norbert wrote:Also, maybe someone can design a 'Prince of Persia community forum' logo that we could use instead of the phpBB logo.

Just now, poirot has uploaded the icons and header image I've created to make this forum a bit more visually appealing (to newcomers, for example).Norbert wrote:How about this one: [...]
I've used this administrative account to make the changes that were required for the images to show up.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Who has access to the WordPress pages at princed.org, just poirot?
It would be better if we added some news items on the main page now and then, to show that we're alive.
Also, at some point, I would like to display the contest logo on the main page.
IMO it would also be better if the entries on the main page mentioned the years.
(For example, the last post currently says "Jul 31"... that was July 31, 2001.)

It's actually 2011, not 2001.Norbert wrote:(For example, the last post currently says "Jul 31"... that was July 31, 2001.)

Err... yeah, that was a typo.David wrote:It's actually 2011, not 2001.Norbert wrote:(For example, the last post currently says "Jul 31"... that was July 31, 2001.)

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Should we allow or remove threads like this:
viewtopic.php?f=66&t=1647
viewtopic.php?f=94&t=1727
viewtopic.php?f=93&t=2878
viewtopic.php?f=65&t=3095
The Sands of Time, for example, is not abandonware, because it can be bought via for example Steam.
Even Prince of Persia 3D is not abandonware.
My opinion is: we should lock all these threads and remove the download links from them.
Also, maybe we need to add a global announcement that only PoP1 and PoP2 may be shared, nothing else.
If the forum/contest starts to attract more visitors, we need to make sure we don't upset the copyright police (too much).
How about merging the two global announcements about spambots, or remove them? Are these bots still a big problem?

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
I've changed the spambot countermeasure to a Q/A about PoP.
Let's wait and see if it's effective.
It may not be, because sometimes humans (cheap labor in certain countries) are used to spam.
[Edit (August 11, 2012): Also, created a sub-board for SNES mods.]

Okay, short update: about ten people currently have access (8 admins, 3 subscribers), all of whom, except me, haven't really been around in a while.Norbert wrote:Who has access to the WordPress pages at princed.org, just poirot?

I've added the contest logo to the main page of princed.org and added a WordPress post about the contest.
The layout of the website and several outdated links still need to be changed; I'll work on that.
mk1995, programmer, Veke, David, ..., if one of you wants WordPress access to be able to create/update/fix posts/links, let me know.

I've just installed AJAX Chat, and I've changed some settings to make it also work as a shoutbox.programmer wrote:There is surely a working AJAX Chat which can be used as a shoutbox (my friend uses it), [...]
The chat is accessible here.
The shoutbox (which displays chat messages and vice versa) can be found at the top of each forum page.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + WordPress webpages)
Can you add a Quick Reply extension, so that a text area is displayed at the bottom of every thread page, and one can immediately quote posts into it and reply without being directed to a separate page?
