Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Right, so maybe if I could add more to it:
Bugs: The things that should be fixed in the engine. For example, pressing tiles those are next to a closed gate on right side, or on left to the closed chomper, going through walls. Chompers which do not start if kid falls from 2 or more floors, overflow bug, stuff like that.
Tricks/Techniques: Doing some movements that does not expoit the engine but most likely can result in doing something more different than what was expected. For example: 3, 6, 81, 91 etc. These do not use bugs in the engine, but mainly demonstrate how those can be used practically with respect to bringing perfection in timing, distance, etc.
So, maybe it's a bug in the engine, but someone can also argue it's a trick because if you keep clinging on for long time, you are gonna die. So you need to bring perfection in timing...

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
I don't think they are the same.
In trick 31, a dead guard disables only the button on which he died.
In the video, a live guard standing on a button disables all other buttons with the same event number.
In trick 81, the prince goes through a closed gate. I'd say it's a bug.
In trick 91, the prince goes into the wall for a short time. That, too, looks like a bug to me.
I agree that the other two do not use bugs, though.

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Yeah, I wanted to highlight the same!

No, you can stand to the edge of the tile and do a two tile run and jump. I don't know why PoPOT shows the trick of going through the wall and NOT the two tile run and jump through the chomper...
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
It looks like 16 but not exactly, because it was done without being hit.atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑October 31st, 2020, 1:55 amIt is one. It's very difficult to find any more tricks!

Do you mean trick 74?atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑October 31st, 2020, 6:04 pm I don't know why PoPOT shows the trick of going through the wall and NOT the two tile run and jump through the chomper...

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Somewhat similar to 74. But you can also do it with wall having on left instead of empty space. And without going through the wall.David wrote: ↑October 31st, 2020, 8:04 pmDo you mean trick 74?atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑October 31st, 2020, 6:04 pm I don't know why PoPOT shows the trick of going through the wall and NOT the two tile run and jump through the chomper...
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
If I could give an advice to improve tricks listing, it would be to display the inputs while recording the videos. That way it would be much easier to understand how to perform these tricks, without having to explain. Furthermore, some of them are presented as "self explanatory" while they aren't.

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
I guess this is correct. If you could show key presses as the video plays, it might be easy for players to notice the trick. I had some problems when I got started, so this is completely right.
However, I disagree that self-explanatory aren't self-explanatory. They seriously are. Please tell us the numbers?

I think this is a trick:
A guard can immediately be killed when he is in his float state.
Norbert, you could add this to PoPOT if you think it's a trick.

I also found another interesting trick:
You can go through the wall, with help of a guard.

Yeah, the logic that pushes characters out of walls is really buggy in combat mode when fighting in closed spaces (1-3 tiles) surrounded by walls.atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2020, 12:12 pm I also found another interesting trick:

You can also push guards through gates in a similar fashion.
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Well, 16 for instance. I mean it may be obvious for you, but in order for this trick to work the prince needs to be on a specific location before being hit, which is 2 pixels wide, and hit forward when being hit. To me it's not self-explanatoryatrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2020, 11:50 amHowever, I disagree that self-explanatory aren't self-explanatory. They seriously are. Well, then maybe you could provide the descriptions to the tricks you think you could improve, and then I guess Norbert could edit them when he gets time? Let's try to improve those, instead of just saying it needs improvement.VelCheran wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2020, 6:30 pmWell, 16 for instance. Difficult to replicate. I'm currently trying.atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2020, 12:12 pmYou can go through the wall, with help of a guard.
[Edit: Ah, you need to press left immediately after stepping off the ledge.]
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
The author probably spied this trick when I passed level 6 (2.40 min)....Norbert wrote: ↑December 4th, 2020, 5:33 pmDifficult to replicate. I'm currently trying.atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2020, 12:12 pmYou can go through the wall, with help of a guard.
