Well I've tried at Allegro forums but they refused.mk1995 wrote:Are you kidding? Why let someone else take over the project and potentially take it a path you never intended it to instead of just assembling a team of voluntaries and leading the development yourself? At least that's the way I'd do it.

Re: Shaw's Nightmare
So that's the case. Unfortunately, I'm not the stick-to-it type so I drop projects in the middle of their development. And even if I were just a part of the staff I couldn't help you. My strengths lie neither in programming nor graphics/music design, but in script translation.
But if I may ask: Why has the project become "too big" for you?
Edit: I've merged all three of your topics into this one. It's beyond me how you failed to notice this one twice despite it being stickied.

Reading this topic might help.Dark77 wrote:By the way, what's Shaw's Nightmare? : D

Re: Shaw's Nightmare
The story of the project is a bit long but I'll tell it to you.
After seeing my sister try to make a show called Yogus, I decided to make a game starring the son (Shaw). In 2007 I started working. But then I did not program I only made the graphics (did I make any sounds?) so I cancelled it. In 2008 after learning about the Build Engine, I resurrected the project and one programmer called Nuno Martinez volenteered but when I tried to propose selling the project, he quit and I couldn't make the game autally work until June 2009. Then I started losing interest in the project. In April 2010, I started but lost interest again. In fact I tried to resurrect the project but lost intrest in it. Then in March 2011 I resurrected the project and I didn't lose intrest. But then now.... I'm losing the interest altogether. I rarely think of the project, and when I do I get distracted.
The project is on the downfall, because I'm an idiot. My cousins would be disgusted. They had high hopes for this project and now this project has become "too big" as you said.
Wow a long post. I wish I could talk to my 12-year-old self just ONCE. If I ever did, I would say:
"Do not sell the game. Don't be such an idiot. Release it freely. This programmer is the greatest. Do not take him for granted."

Re: Shaw's Nightmare
Considering how many times you dropped the project in its lifetime makes me wanna recommend you to just kill it off there and now, and concentrate on something else. Something that doesn't end up in your biting off more than you can chew. At least that's what I'd do in your stead.
Re: Shaw's Nightmare
I don't know about this but the root of the project's problems stem from me wanting to sell it.

Re: Shaw's Nightmare
If that's the problem, then don't! Stop thinking of making money with this. Banish that thought and you might be able to enjoy making this project. Besides, I couldn't think of anybody who'd buy another Doom clone at this age - for DOS, no less.
Shaw's Nightmare returns
I've decided to continue the development of Shaw's Nightmare. Download the current alpha here.

Merged. Can't be arsed to look on the bottom half of Page 1 for it, eh?

I uploaded an alpha slideshow. Download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jpkdcddce5e1hzz
Also I need some level designers. Anyone who volunteers should PM me and I'll send you the level editor and current art.

Are you sure that's the URL you wanted to link to?musa wrote:This is a new Shaw's Nightmare which I created today. You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?pnecgfd9oc9jbqu
SN0_1.ZIP, it seems to be a "tech demo".
(It works in DOSBox, by the way. What I did is download DOS4G and then rename DOS4G.EXE to DOS4GW.EXE.)

Re-uploaded. You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?u7673cbmc8ps31c. But I have a question: why are the links not working anymore?

Thanks, I'll add it tomorrow.musa wrote:Re-uploaded. You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?u7673cbmc8ps31c. But I have a question: why are the links not working anymore?
As to why the old links are no longer working...
Possibly something related to their Terms of Service. (One of their employees may have flagged the mod as copyright/trademark infringement, for example.)
Or, less likely, related to their current or past Content Retention policy. (If you registered using a temporary e-mail address and rarely login, for example.)
[Edit: I've added it here.]
