In my eyes there's really no way to get further in level 8. And no, there is no guard at all at the beginning of the level. If you go to the left, there is a closed door which does not open. If you go to the right, you die. And even the way up does not bring you further.

The photo should show you that it is not possible to beat this level, unfortunately.

Re: Dusk:Mod
Sooooo, I added a new version to the start post.
I overworked Level8 again to make it more consistent in it´s style.
The guard part was a bit to difficult for this mod anyway (at least I think so).
But I added a life bottle for those of you who like it hardcore.
This should have been the last part which bothered me to much as I could have left it as it was.
Have fun.

Re: Dusk:Mod
Firstly, I have to say this. When uploading a mod, give all the files required to play it. Even if you only edited the levels.dat and prince.exe. It's annoying to have to make new copies of the vanilla PoP folder, rename the folder and replace the edited files myself.
Now that that's out of the way. I played the first two levels, and despite being awfully rusty at the game, I quite enjoyed them, that is to say, I finished them without cheats, though not without taking 15 minutes to complete them. Considering that these levels are slightly more challenging than the vanilla, you might want to increase the starting time in the prince.exe.
Fun, fair, not too heavy on the challenge. By no means the sort that tries to trick the player, and that's great. I might play through the rest of them soon enough, and find out if it's like that throughout the mod.

Re: Dusk:Mod
Thanks for your feedback.
I already thought about increasing the time limit but I find it quite tricky to choose a good one since the time one needs to complete a level can vary a lot from player to player...

Re: Dusk:Mod
I'm at Level 8 now and of the 60 minutes haven't used half yet. However, my being at Level 8 doesn't say anything because I don't know whether the difficulty curve will spike up at one point. Don't spoil me on that, though!
Edit: Currently I'm at Level 12a with my remaining time being less than 20, but more than 10 minutes. This brought me to the conclusion that 60 minutes are a good starting time - no need for extensions.
Edit No.2: I've finally beaten the mod. My clear time was also somewhere around 45 minutes. Those 60 minutes are really enough of a time limit.
