CusPoP is awesome, but I notice that I can't use the 1.4 executables. Is there a reason that this might happen? Are there actually multiple versions that call themselves 1.4? I've tried both packed and unpacked with my copy of 1.4. 1.0 works with my 1.0 data files. Thanks!

Actually, I should expand on this a little bit.

I have Prince 1.4 and Prince 1.0. The only thing I can use from CusPOP is a 1.0 packed, on the PoP 1.0 installation. The 1.4 installation will not take anything, and the 1.0 will only take packed. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Missing a step? Do I need a special collection of data files to get 1.4 working? I'd really like to use 1.4 unpacked, or at least 1.0 unpacked. Thanks again!

I downloaded 1.4 from that site. When I start it up, it works as normal. If I replace prince.exe with a custom one from CusPOP, it runs for a second or two, then drops back to DOSBox or Windows. The title screen doesn't even pop up. No error information is visible.

I just found that I can get a CusPOP 1.4 packed to work with a fresh install. Unfortunately, there are two issues. First, "packed" doesn't allow me to do things like tell it to load resources (e.g. large pillar graphics) for all levels. Second, the custom 1.4 executable I made had no modifications to it, it was all the default values. The modified version I made a few weeks ago did not work, and I don't remember exactly what changes I made.

EDIT: I am communicating with Poirot, I just want to post what happens here so that if it gets solved and somebody else runs into the same problem later, hopefully they won't just see "OK it works now!" with no details to help push them along.

Programmer, are you saying that you have a version of Prince 1.4 that will run CusPOP-generated "1.4 unpacked" executables? I have the version from the Polish website and it will not. If so, please let me know, because I would like to get your version. Thanks!

Rick: I'll download the generated version and run a diff with the original ones, I'll let you know what the results are.

Bug fixed! The bug was that the ISP installed (without notice) a protection program called suoshin. This program eliminated (again, without notice) all the web posts made after 200 fields. As unpacked versions often have more than 200 custom fields, suoshin was triggered and the post submit was truncated to 200 options generating empty texts, required filenames and other corruptions.
