any suggests?
(Your command ends with "princ", but you used "prince", it seems.)
The result -13 (PR_RESULT_ERR_XML_FILE) seems to mean the program cannot open a file.
(Either "if (bin.size<=0)" or "if (!writeOpen(file,&unknownFile.fd,optionflag))" is the case.)

- Is the resources.xml file in the same directory you run PR.EXE from?
- Do you have writing privileges in "C:\Users\xxx"?

the map ''rs'' is apoplexy map. Inside there is a map: pr. Inside it: pr.exe and rescoures.xml
this is what i typed: C:\Users\xxx>C:\cp335\rs\pr\pr.exe -x C:\cp335\rs\pri

the map ''prince'' is the game

This is the result

C:\Users\xxx>C:\cp335\rs\pr\pr.exe -x C:\cp335\rs\pri

Do you just want to use apoplexy or do you want to edit images or other resources?

It doesn't work because you have no resources.xml file in "C:\Users\xxx".
The file resources.xml needs to be in the same directory where you run PR.EXE from.

So, you are 100% sure you have the file resources.xml in "C:\Users\xxx"?

Let me also write it in Dutch; you may understand it better:
-----
Het bestand resources.xml moet staan in de directory vanaf waar jij het commando uitvoert.
In jouw voorbeeld dus in "C:\Users\xxx".
Met andere woorden, in "C:\Users\xxx" moet het bestand resources.xml staan.
Dus dit bestand moet bestaan: C:\Users\xxx\resources.xml
-----

Well, that depends on what kind of files you would like to edit.

If you want to edit the images, you need a graphics editor.
Freely available is, for example, GIMP (Windows executable).

Important is that you cannot just add new colors to the images.
If you open images in GIMP, you can see what colors are available(*) in the (indexed) image's palette by selecting from the top menu:
Windows -> Dockable Dialogs -> Colormap
(In Dutch: Vensters -> Koppelbare dialoogvensters -> Kleurenkaart)
If you only use these colors, things will probably turn out okay.

(*) It's a little more complicated than that, because PRINCE.EXE uses .pal 'files' that you can alter yourself.
However, the images also have palettes inside them and there's no reason to dive in too deep before you've even tried to alter one or more images.

Princed resources (PR) v1.1 Win32
(c) Copyright 2003 - 2005 Princed Development Team

Are there any .DAT files in c:\cp335\rs\pr\resc?
Why did you change it from c:\cp335\rs\pr\prince to c:\cp335\rs\pr\resc.
