How to change the graphics of kid.dat?

Hallo together, I'm new in this community, so please be kind if I picked the wrong topic.

I'm working on a Pop1 Mod, but I don't understand how to extract the images of the kid.dat.
I would like to give the kid a new look.

Could someone give me a step for step instruction how to extract or edit the kids looking.
I've read a view topics about this, but didn't understand them at all, because my englisch is good but not perfect, also I'm not a computer-expert.

The two main ways are:

1. Using PR
The PR ZIP has the files you need in its src/bin/ directory.
You can use those together with a .BAT script, see the bottom post here.
After using that script, the images will be in resources/kid/

2. Using SDLPoP
The SDLPoP ZIP has the images in its data/KID.DAT/ directory.
If you also want to edit levels, you should put your custom LEVELS.DAT into SDLPoP's main (top) directory.

1. But unfortunately Idon't know how to use a .BAT script.
I just don't get how to import the pictures!

2. There I can find the pics and edit them but I don't know ho to import them back to the game.

You don't need to import them.
If you change the images, they immediately change in the game.

Now there is another problem

The editing works fine, also the custom level import works fine.

But after editing and saving the pic i got a white edge around the FAT guy and some transparent parts.
How to fix that?

You could attach the changed files/package to a post, or upload it somewhere and link to it.
Then I or someone else could take a look at it and maybe figure out why you see that stuff.

Finally everything works!
I even found out how to export and import the picture files from the .dat files.
