Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
It's easy! Just press Escape at correct time and press any other key after the music ends. See this P1R file (seems like SDLPoP doesn't even record Escape key...):

Interesting! Not really a trick but a bug because of inconsistent room links. Should be fix for SDLPoP as well. Norbert, what do you think it should be uploaded to PoPOT? I am confused. There are several other tricks which are because of broken room links, see this for example.
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Hm, I'll add these two as a single new trick, that guards can be moved across broken rooms.
Will edit this post when done. [Edit: Done.]

It's the same! Basically the trick is the guard is teleported to the screen where he shouldn't be (because of room links), and depending on the distance you can do weird things with him.

If you're not having fun playing Prince of Persia, you may simply stop playing it.
There are lots of other good games you can play, including many that are free to play (example listing).

What the hell was that!
How? Wait, what?
Please somebody explain me how to do it!!! This is so exciting!
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
This trick is extremely terrible.
Does these looped moves confuse the game about the downside of the wall or what?

Check out my first ever mod and rate it it is Journey in Mystery I hope I will improve next time, thank you
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Most likely, the turning around back-and-forth and all that isn't necessary.
Probably the hopping position moves the prince slightly 'inside' the wall, and thus at the wall's location.
And if the prince is at the wall's location, then no obstacles are between him and the guard, thus the guard approaches.

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
I tried this today and it doesn't seem to work. I guess there's something very exact you need to do, anyone got any success? Norbert, you are gonna try this?

Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Maybe it only works with the caped prince , similar to trick 83.atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: ↑February 6th, 2021, 11:07 am Seems like an old trick, but not yet listed on PoPOT. Similar to 65.
One problem with the YouTube video is that the player (Suave) does not show the viewer how to get into the trick starting position.
It's also difficult to tell what is the exact starting position, because of the custom environment graphics.
Various different SNES-like VDUNGEON.DAT files exist too, so I can't easily tell which one to compare with.
Anyway, I've been unable to replicate the trick.
