Since it requires to hit Down after being hit, while trick 39 requires to hit Right when being hit, then to me they're not the same tricks
Those bugs are different. I have fixed a few of those in my mod.
Trick 39 has to do with positioning between tiles. If you bump kid against the gate to the right of the room, it can get confused and point to the tile in the next room which is a floor instead of the gate.
The bug in the video seems to happen because the game calls the sequence to put the sword down. The logic that checks whether the closed gate tile is a wall gets confused.
There is also a bug with guards which is kind of a combination between the two. If you keep striking the guard against a closed gate to the right of the room and there is a drop right behind the gate, he will fall through but only when there are no hit points left which causes the guard sequence to change.
