How to change PCSpeaker to SoundBlaster? (both Music/SFX)

Post by gustavopamplona »

Hi people!!!

After downloaded all the mods found on this site and many of these mods I can't find the "setup.exe" from original game.

So I can't setup the game to change the sound device and I need to say that I don't know which .dat file is used by the prince.exe or any .exe files found on the mods to control the parameters of music/sfx

I would not like to use the "dosbox" or "qemu" or any dos/pc emulator to emulate the pc-speaker amd I still have an old SB-Awe32 card.

So I have some questions.

Can I use the "setup.exe" from original game? Is possible to use it?

I'm good on hex-editing, so if the procedure requires editing any '.dat' file so I would like to know what .dat files are required?

I think that the ".dat's" files are

prince.dat
pv.dat

or...

digsnd(1..3).dat's
ibm_snd(1..2).dat's
midisnd(1..2).dat's

But I think that digsnd, ibmsnd, midsnd datas are the files that hold the waves/midis or sounds/musics from the game.

or this require editing the prince.exe (or any executable)

And I would like to know what 'bytes' I need to change.

Thanx and bye, bye!!!

Thanx 'programmer' for answer me...

And I forgot to say that I'm using Windows 98SE running Prince of Persia on a MS-DOS Prompt, and my SB-Awe32 has the proper drivers installed and with 'SET BLASTER' enviroment variable perfectly set.

And on this system, when we are using the MS-DOS prompt is the same thing as using a plain DOS system... (with some little differences)

And the acess to the sound blaster resources and/or pc-speaker interrupt using the MS-DOS prompt or under plain DOS (even with DOS 6.22) is the same thing...

But if there is no way, no problem, I will apologize and sorry if my post caused some strange confusion.

And I would like to get the "SNES Levels", tried to download at this page

http://forum.princed.com.ar/pop1/wstep.html

But unfortunately the file is deleted (says: Module not found)

And I would like to say that I have the SNES version of Prince of Persia... But I would like to see how are the look and feel of the SNES levels on original Prince of Persia.

Thanx and my sincere sorries!!!
