As a supplement to the thread about Cruel World...
Another game that is similar to PoP is the 1994 SNES game Nosferatu.
See the attached image (mirrors here and here).

Now really, how many such games are there?

On MobyGames, they seem to be in the "Cinematic Platformer" genre: http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/gen ... platformer
There you can find PoP1 (and some other PoP games), Cruel World, Zorro, Nosferatu, and some more games (that seem to be less similar to PoP).
See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_g ... latformers.

Did you make the PoP screenshots, by the way?

And then there are all the mobile look-alikes and rip-offs.

Here's another PoP inspired game, "The Platformer", on Google Play:

(My answer to this moved here.)

Hey, is this the same game as #3 here?
I think it is. Their download page links to the same Android app.

In fact I have downloaded their PlatformerFull.zip back when Starwindz made the post.
Both the game and the level editor actually work on my system.
It also has a "Quest Editor", but that won't start.

The level editor has tiles like: floor, big pillar, torch, skeleton, potion, chopper (actually a circular saw), guard, breakable (loose floor), spikes.
Of these, the guard even uses the image of a PoP1 guard in the editor.

The editor comes with one level, in the file level.plat.
To play it, you need to start the game from the level editor (Play menu), because otherwise the game will ask for login.

Also the reverse, the "Visit website" link at Google Play goes to the gearmind.com subdomain.

Yeah.
I didn't even notice that link the first time, maybe because the color of the links under "Additional information" is hardly different from the color of the regular texts.
At least on my screen.

The only maps I could find are here: https://www.vgmaps.com/forums/index.php?topic=2238.0
I think they are only the beginning of the first level. (I haven't played the game.)

AVGN recently published a Nosferatu review:
