It seems we have some serious spam infestation in the wiki: http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?titl ... &limit=500

Some of them have, er, "mismatched" introductions...
My name is Kate and I'm a 17 years old boy from Ebersdorf.
My name is Joseph and I'm a 19 years old girl from Brazil.

Yeah, even the main page has spam.

I suppose I'll try to cleanly revert to the way it was before the spam started.
I don't think there was any recent non-spam activity on the wiki?

And then maybe lock down user account creation. People could ask for an account here on the forum, if they want to contribute.
Does that sound OK?

Do you mean something like restoring from a backup?
Falcury wrote: March 31st, 2018, 3:19 pm I don't think there was any recent non-spam activity on the wiki?
I can't get the recent pages to go as far as to list the last edits done by me, even if I set absurdly high limits and filter it to the main namespace: http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?name ... entChanges
It just won't go before a certain date, no matter what do I set for "last N days". Why?

The latest non-spam edit seems to be from 2017 March: http://www.princed.org/wiki/Special:Con ... ns/Norbert
While spam started in or before 2017 December: http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?name ... entChanges
Actually in 2017 July: http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?titl ... tionSort=1
(And nobody noticed for more than half a year!)

Probably. We don't often have legitimate registrations anyway.
Or legitimate edits for that matter.

OK, I have restored the wiki using a database backup from 29 April 2017.
Nothing should have been lost, because that backup was made after the last legitimate edit, but before the spam started.

Account creation has now been disabled. If anyone wants an account for contributing to the wiki, please send me a PM.

Apparently there is a bug that causes searching for non-existent pages to give an error.

The workaround from this bug report seemed to resolve the problem for now:
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T177477

Edit: I will see if I can get the Scribunto plugin to work again (that is used for the templates, which are broken at the moment).
Edit2: Enabling the extension now causes error 500. Updating to the most recent wiki software might fix it.

Templates finally work again!
It turns out I could fix the template issue by pointing the Scribunto extension to use the web server's own lua binary, which apparently existed at /usr/bin/lua.

And the wiki software is also up to date now.

I found the cause: the wiki software periodically purges that list. See here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgRCMaxAge
I set the max age of recent entries to 5000 days (used to be the default of 90 days), so older changes will show up now.
The oldest change in the list is now dated 5 September 2014.

I see Norbert began to fix links and typos: http://www.princed.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges

But I also found a problem.
Here: http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?titl ... on=history (SNES format)
There, the latest edit by me is dated 2013 June 1.
However, I have some text files with later versions of the page. The last of them is dated 2014 August 2.
Why are they not on the wiki?
It *might* be the case that I "forgot" to post these new versions to the wiki, but I don't know why would I have done that.

The other format pages correctly have all my edits from 2016:
http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?titl ... on=history (Game Boy)
http://www.princed.org/w/index.php?titl ... on=history (SEGA Genesis)

You did forget. :)
The last cached version Google has is from 24 March this year, and it says at the bottom that the wiki page was last modified on 1 June 2013.

Falcury wrote: November 26th, 2016, 11:59 am Actually, I have 7-11 all in use right now. Note that some of these potions have rather "implementation-specific" aspects (for my mod, that is...)
For reference, these are the specific types that I implemented:
7: shadow potion
8: bonus potion / extra time potion (trading in 1 max life point)
9: full health potion (with magenta-colored bubbles, inspired by Prince of Persia 3D's Tears of Malak :))
10: custom open potion (similar to the normal open potion, but more versatile and if used to open a gate, that gate stays open. It also has a different appearance, so that it won't be confused with poison)
11: strong poison (This is probably similar to MININIM's big poison potion. But in the end I wanted these to have a slightly different appearance for my mod specifically)
Falcury, maybe you can supplement this section?
http://www.princed.org/wiki/Legacy_combos#0x0A:_potion
With potion sizes and colors, I mean, and maybe a short description?

Or should it say that these variants can be used "implementation-specific", and thus have no specific properties?

There is a bug in the HTTP-to-HTTPS redirection on the wiki:
For example, go to http://www.princed.org/wiki/Game_Boy_format (or open the link in the post above).
It will redirect to the main page of the wiki instead of the correct page.
