princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
Apparently only the host can modify SQL_MAX_JOIN_SIZE directly.
And I can't modify the SQL (from the admin panel, at least) in order to add SET SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1 to it.
Should I revert the change I made? Or make the configuration slightly stricter again?
Or try to switch to the "MySQL Fulltext" search backend (some documentation about the search backends can be found https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... rver/]here, near the bottom of the page)?

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
You mean adding 'like' buttons to posts, or something similar?
Maybe there is an extension for that. I found these:

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
The idea of allowing users to down vote posts doesn't sound appealing to me.
Adding a thumbs up option also doesn't sound very appealing, but at least not as bad as having people down vote posts.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
I don't understand why you announce you want to talk.
First you write you want to talk, then you write the subject you want to talk about.
Why don't you just write what you want to say?
Also, there is a popot.org thread on this forum...
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
Sorry friend, I didn't know it was a hosting and you can't do it.Falcury wrote: ↑March 31st, 2018, 3:08 pmYou mean adding 'like' buttons to posts, or something similar?

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
From this thread:
The maximum size for attachments is currently set at 5MB. I could increase that limit, if needed.
I added 7z as an allowed extension for forum attachments.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
A possible downside of having a large(r) attachment limit is that the full website backup size increases.
And maybe there's an increased chance to run into the account's quota limit.
Maybe we should ask Enrique to ask his content provider to add SSL (https) to www.princed.org and forum.princed.org.
And while he's at it, he could ask them to also add it his employer's website (www.cloodie.com).
I think the content provider is HostMonster (hostmonster.com), even though the whois says Enom.
I don't think HostMonster has free SSL, but the 'related' BlueHost does.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
Yeah, HTTPS seems to be more or less mandatory these days. I sent him an e-mail.Norbert wrote: ↑May 20th, 2018, 4:36 pm Maybe we should ask Enrique to ask his content provider to add SSL (https) to www.princed.org and forum.princed.org.
Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)
It is likely that I will be mostly absent this month, due to other obligations.
To keep everyone up to date on the switch to HTTPS: Enrique is looking at alternatives to the current shared hosting provider. Most likely a dedicated server or a VPS. No timeline yet, but it's on the agenda.
