Repetition of Time had a trailer, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet.
I still have it. (introRoT.rar, ~10 MB)
I uploaded it here: http://en.file-upload.net/download-9585 ... T.rar.html

Norbert's two mods also have trailers.

I've uploaded it to YouTube and I've embedded it in a forum post here.
Any other goodies you have laying around from ye olde days? :)

Yeah. Don't want to mention all trailers in the message though, three's probably enough...

I seem to have the following:
- Some mods or custom levels by various people. Some of them are unfinished or at least not all levels are changed.
Example: lionkings_Prince.rar, LEVELS_william.dat, Levels_bigch.zip (Big Challenge?), "Ultimate Tournament", programmerLEVELS.DAT, sammieboy_PoPLevels.zip, morpet1.zip, zambizi1.zip, CLOCK.rar, Jakubbw_brave5_LEVELS.DAT, want_hard_LEVELS.DAT, Secrets of the Citadel - by Falcury.dat, ...
And much more.
- Some video walkthroughs of levels of various mods.
Example: Jaffar's revenge levels 1-3, Maze of Illusion level 1, Challenging level of only two screens, some original levels, and a full walkthrough of PoP1 by HTamas (the same that you have on PoPOT).
buddy_level1.rar, david_Level1.rar, venus_level1.rar, ...
And much more.
- Avatars and signature images of some PoPUW users.
- Videos and animated gifs showing tricks or bugs, or mod walkthroughs.
Example: prince_taketwice.avi (how to take the big potion on level 3 twice), immortal_drop.rar (trick 11), prince_level5.mpg (how to shut the gate on the shadow), ...
There are many gifs from Random Tournament levels.
- Some unofficial games.
Example: Arabian Nights 2D, "FIRES OF WAR", "The Sands of Time 2D", "The Unspoken", "Project V", 2PDUEL.ZIP, pop2arena-15-bin.zip (and src).
- Various tools.
Example: level editors, save editors, PR (and its ancestors PG and PRM), screen recorders, poprecog, drawmap, Butcher's tools (Easy Events Assigner, PR Front-End, offline CusPoP).
- Other things:
Example: maps (DOS, ZX), extracted images and music (DOS, Flash), a screensaver, a desktop theme, fonts from one of the 3D PoP games, and much more...

2PDUEL.ZIP is a version of PoP2 Arena?

Are Fires of War, Sands of Time 2D, Unspoken or Project V any good?
David wrote:- Some mods or custom levels by various people. Some of them are unfinished or at least not all levels are changed.
Maybe some of those could be added to popot.org? It's okay if only some levels are changed. Jaffar's Revenge, for example, only has levels 1, 2, 3 and 7 changed. Another example is David's Levels, with six custom levels.

The other things you mentioned are either already on-line or don't really need to be, I think? Obtaining the LP in level 3 twice is killing yourself after the checkpoint, then opening the level door, then going to the LP again. Shutting the gate in level 5 doesn't prevent the shadow from stealing the LP. Butcher's tools might be interesting, although IIRC one or more of those unintentionally contained viruses?

If you believe any of the things you mentioned might be interesting to see/try and you don't mind sharing them, you could dump them in forum threads.

I've just sent the following to dozens of video games related media outlets (from: info TA popot TOD org), with the subject "October 3rd: Prince of Persia 25th anniversary".
This forum shows the viewforum.php links differently, but other than that this is the exact text:
sent wrote:Reminder!

Next week (October 3rd) is the 25th anniversary of "Prince of Persia".

Created by Jordan Mechner and initially released for the Apple ][, the game has been ported to more than 20 platforms, including DOS and SNES.

Is this first game in the series still being played?

You bet!

We are the Prince of Persia modding community. Not only do we still play the game, but for more than a decade we have made all kinds of alterations to the DOS and SNES versions of game and we discuss those on our forum: http://forum.princed.org/

We are currently converting the game to Windows and Linux:
- SDLPoP: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=3512
- PoP.NET: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=3180

We have created our own level editors. Examples:
- (To edit DOS levels.) http://www.popot.org/level_editors.php?editor=apoplexy
- (To edit SNES levels.) http://www.popot.org/level_editors.php? ... 1SnesLevEd

We have created over 150 mods with new levels:
http://www.popot.org/custom_levels.php

Some mods have their own trailers. Examples:
- (SNES mod) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoCA2St0q88
- (DOS mod) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b8-ISkMExM
- (DOS mod) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yj8xm8siaw

We create walkthrough videos and collect tricks:
- Videos: viewforum.php?f=118
- Tricks: http://www.popot.org/documentation.php?doc=Tricks

A video about the history of our community:

We, the Prince of Persia modding community, ask you: don't forget about the 25th anniversary of this great game. It's still very much alive and well!

If you write something about the 25th anniversary, please let us know. :)

Thanks!

If I get any reactions, links to publications or otherwise, I'll post about it in this thread.

No, but the idea is similar.
Now I see that PoPUW has info (and downloads) about both:
Duel: http://popuw.com/theduel.html
Arena: http://popuw.com/arena.html
Norbert wrote: Are Fires of War, Sands of Time 2D, Unspoken or Project V any good?
I'll upload them and we'll see.
Norbert wrote: Maybe some of those could be added to popot.org? It's okay if only some levels are changed.
I'll go through them to filter out what is already on PoPOT.
Like I did here: viewtopic.php?p=13741#p13741

I think there's not a single English language video gaming-related website writing about Prince of Persia, which surprises me.
Maybe it would've been different if the PoP franchise would've had a more recent release. The last was mid 2010.
SimCity was released on the same day, apparently. I did learn that just now.

Yes, there were some pages about that in the results.
One of them is in the list above, and the other is this: http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/3/690177 ... ay-simcity

Norbert wrote: September 9th, 2014, 5:30 pm Coming October 3rd, PoP will be 25 years old.
That is, the original Apple ][ game was released on 3 October 1989.

Should we mark this occasion in any way?
Use it to make people outside of our community aware of PoP modding creations and possibilities?
A press release? An event?
Should we ask Mechner is he's willing to be interviewed; if he is collectively come up with questions and send those to him?
David's topic about his conversion says "pre-release" (latest version number is 1.07), maybe focus should be on his port?
Just threat it like any other day and do nothing special?
About half-a-year from now 30 years.

I grew up with both, as you may have seen on the Contact page of my website. (And before that I used cassette tapes, with my parents' P2000T.) Your combined use of "Funnily", emphasised "*more*" and the Wikipedia link made me feel old. ;) These disk storage charactistics are totally normal to me, including the single and double density types, etc.

I must be one of the few - if not the only - visitors here who first played the DOS game not that long after it had been released. :) I bought PoP at some local fair. Pretty sure it was a bootlegged copy, but the disk was blue and had a print similar to this. I remember having trouble reaching (passing) the gate in level 3. Then I read or heard about the cheat codes, and started investigating chasms by floating down. I also remember being impressed with the graphics. And I think, but I'm not sure, that, later (1995?), it was one of the games where music sounded differently after buying a Gravis Ultrasound Max.

I wonder if Mechner is going to tweet anything PoP related today.
Of if he's just going to keep it all political (re)tweets...

Hey, speaking of the 30th anniversary, Linux Ubuntu tweeted about it, and they included SDLPoP!
