Sharp X68000: Guard's hitpoints disappear when following kid into another room

I noticed that when a guard follows the kid into another room in this version, his hitpoints disappear until he is hit in the new room. Then, the correct number of hitpoints is displayed again. This is also apparent when trying to lure the guard who blocks the path to the exit door in Level 1 to the room below the starting room: there's no visual indication when he's about to arrive.
This quirk isn't present in the FM Towns, Mega-CD, PC-98 or TurboGrafx-CD version.
