There are two versions of PoP for the C64 with slightly different cheats.
You can see the version number in the main menu.

Ctrl+V = have 8 HPs
Ctrl+L = next level
v1.1: https://csdb.dk/release/?id=102540
Ctrl+V = have 8 HPs
Ctrl+N = next level
The key combination for next level was changed because it clashed with load game: https://csdb.dk/release/?id=102248&show=hidden#hidden
Note that in emulators, Ctrl of the C64 is not necessarily mapped to Ctrl on your keyboard.
It's usually Tab instead.
