Prince of Persia (SNES) - Survival Run

This idea came to my mind after playing the Mega Drive version (and getting frustrated at it due to those hateful physics) and then switching over to the SNES: "Let's see how far I can get in this game before dying..."

Said, then done. I opened up my SNES emulator (if it interests you: I use ZSNES) and ran the ROM of PoP. My first attempts at survival weren't very great, but that shows that I haven't played this port in quite a while. Here's a rundown...

Level 2 - got killed by a blue guard
Level 3 - missed a ledge and fell to my death
Level 7 - blindly ran into a pit full of spikes

And my newest attempt ended at...

Level 14 - tried to jump-catch a ledge, but missed and fell to my death

Now, why don't you too go and do a survival run on this game? Then you can tell me how far you came.

~3:08, got killed by first green guard while trying to bypass him... >_> Shit I didn't know newbies would strike so much!
~3:45, got killed by the blue guard, the thought of using a ninja flying kick flashed through my head for a second, I was greeted with his pointy metal.

Lol! I'm so damned rusty on this game. >_< It's not even funny.

Oh, come on. When I tried it, I hadn't played that game in ages. But in order to try to be fast (I can beat PoP SNES within an hour), I do noob's mistakes (some really embarassing ones to intermediates and higher like falling off a ledge).

Yeah, I'm too used to the PC's slower physics. Blame my skills in PC.

Then you should play the European PAL version. It's significantly slower than the NTSC versions and thus allows for more reaction time. ;)

Nah, I like the NTSC version, moar difficulty!!

Interestingly, the SNES actually lags while going through some of my created dungeons (specifically room 2 of Remix III), which points out that the game has issues with performence in complicated rooms.

The game also lags in rooms with conveyor belts.

Chompers, Loose Tiles and Triggers also lag the game, along with guards.

Level 4 - Chomped while entering a new room. You rush you die, don't rush!!
Level 8 - Fell down a pit while entering a new room. >_< I hate these 1 tile before a pit after a room change things.

Is it the game engine which has issues with your complex levels, or merely the emulator you're using to play it? IMO it could very well be the emulator, since no program can emulate with 100% fidelity how a piece of hardware behaved under widely varying conditions.
