Yeah, some of those things are useful to know, like how to quickly place the last used tile again without going to the tiles screen.
I like the idea of using the randomize function to help come up with ideas. Random stuff might indeed be useful for that.
By the way, I see that yaqxsw is still using version 2.0.
The latest release, version 2.6b, is better in several ways.
In particular, it is a lot faster (because it uses SDL2); just move around the mouse quickly on the main screen to see the difference.
Also, several bugs were fixed.
There's also an extra screen to easily change several PRINCE.EXE settings. (It allows you to, for example, quickly change guard hit points and types for each level without having to use CusPop.)
Plus a bunch of other stuff.

Nice. It's smart that you already built stuff before recording and just put the prince in those rooms.
Some of those illusions and crazy-looking tiles could be used to make it look like the palace is falling apart.

Prince of Persia for SNES can do that, and a lot more.
I suggest you try out David's Pr1SnesLevEd editor.

This is possible. David gave a technical explanation of what to do here (at the bottom). He or someone else might be willing to create a package for you that is 'patched' to allow usage of mirrors in dungeon levels.

Oh, and PoP2 also has invisible tiles in certain levels.
They impact the level backgrounds though.
This, for example, is an invisible tile:
