The Movie Thread
Re: The Movie Thread
I've seen A Quiet Place the other day. It's pretty good I must say. Not a horror though, even though it was kind of marketed that way.
Here's a review of ZQuiet worth reading today.
Re: The Movie Thread
These comments, where a random person joins to write a single, general comment, I think these are spammers that have software that is used to later modify posts to add spam links. These spammers do take the time to add an on-topic comment, but about very general topics. Another example is this by Raymo, and this by Tischler. Of course, I could be wrong, but we've seen spammers take the time to answer bot-check questions in the past. But since we disallow post editing after a certain amount of time, their plan doesn't work. Again, I could be wrong, but it certainly feels like that's what they're trying to do.
Re: The Movie Thread
I like the Glass trailer.
Re: The Movie Thread
Earlier in the week, Captain Marvel's 2nd trailer was not bad....
And then, today, the Avengers 4 title is revealed!
Looking at Marvel's approach to their 2 Avengers films, this has provided me an idea to finally to start work on the follow-up to Battle Hardened 3, including its storyline. But it would be slow and in stages.......

Re: The Movie Thread
I'll be checking out both these Marvel films (at home ).
I haven't seen it yet, but it looks like he did another good job in the recent Vice film.

If your PC is fast enough, you can set this video to 720p60 or 1080p60, then watch fullscreen.

It's a 60 fps film, as opposed to the Hollywood standard 24 fps.
A higher frame rate is better, IMO.
(This post of mine from 2013 is related.)

It's also 4K and HDR. Looks like they want to show off all these new technologies together. Now only 3D is missing...Norbert wrote: ↑January 16th, 2019, 9:43 pm If your PC is fast enough, you can set this video to 720p60 or 1080p60, then watch fullscreen.

In Firefox: If I select 720p60 then the video lags terribly.
In Opera: It's better but still lags.
In VLC: It opens the 1280x720, 30 fps version of the video and I don't see any way to select 60 fps. But at least it doesn't lag.
The first video from that post plays perfectly in VLC, the other two are 404.
Re: The Movie Thread
The film just got nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar) in the Best Visual Effects category.Norbert wrote: ↑January 6th, 2018, 3:37 am The CGI for Thanos (also: "but this") is incredible, by the way.
Especially the eyes and areas around them.
It's almost as if they filmed an actual person's eyes and digitally integrated that footage into the face.
The subtle facial movements; they show off the character for several seconds in a row without issue.
I see some Jack Nicholson in his face.

Posting this as there is a mashup I made inside POP videos/images topic in celebration of this
Re: The Movie Thread
I'm looking forward to watching this film.
Hopefully it'll be as good as Infinity War.
Payback time.

If you've seen the Joker trailer, check out Grace's breakdown of it.
She's so excited about its potential, it makes for a fun watch.

Re: The Movie Thread
Saw the film earlier today. For me, it's not as good as Infinity War. It was simply 'all right'. I'll keep it at that, because I don't want to give any spoilers. Plus, I'll eventually re-watch it at home to see if I still feel the same way about certain things as I do now. Very slow first 1-2 hours with almost no action.

Grace at it again.
Still my favorite YouTuber, even though I certainly don't always agree with her.
