mk1995 would've liked this, I think, given his dislike of leetspeak.

Apparently, Mechner married Whitney Hills last April.

I think this is very interesting:

For those of you unfamiliar with the Fermi paradox (Fermi's question "Where is everybody?") and hypothetical explanations for the paradox, see:

Aliens! I doubt if they exist, just like Algebraic Topology
I even remember the first time i saw "Encuentros en la tercera fase" (Close Encounters of the Third Kind) with my father :) He also told to me the problem of Fermi's paradox. That childhood times...

By the anthropic principle, it can be explained the theorical low probability of life. If our Universe exists in a cyclic way (Big Bang - History of time - Big Crunch or something like that - Big Bang 2 - etc - ...) then it would explain our existence without the paradox of low probability of intelligent life, but not the existence of another intelligent life.

Anyway, i doubt that we could proof that there is no alien life. Alien life is hardly falseable. Life is a too complex concept, and even more intelligent life. There is always some questions that we can't answer. Now, in 100 years, in 10000 years. Never!

However, i want to believe that we could answer that question someday.

We're not sure of the existence of another life-supporting planet supporting the life of aliens.
I think that the aliens are not sure of the existence of another life-supporting planet (aka Earth) supporting the life of the aliens' aliens (aka humans).

That's the answer I would give if I believed in aliens. (This doesn't mean that I don't believe in aliens.)

Yep. We can only believe.

I haven't seen David in a week or so.
Maybe he's on a vacation.

[Edit: He's back. :)]

The latest The Simpsons episode (S27E09, "Barthood") starts with a rotoscoped couch gag:

The same technique that Mechner used for PoP (and Karateka and The Last Express).

whoa! i am impressed, Sir!

you actually took out the time to look for this.

the movie was my first exposure to Japanese samurai classics. i was a young teen then and the movie was for adults only due to the gore involved.
had to walk up to the ticket booth and lower my voice to say "yes, i'm 18." (in our vernacular, of course)
