Re: Forum spam

The anti-spambot countermeasure for new user registration has been switched back to the Q&A method (for now). In the current set-up, new users have to send an e-mail to ask for the password to be able to create an account.

Re: SDLPoP; David's open-source port of PoP

I will probably revert the #includes to their original forms. Or perhaps add some more #ifs to keep everyone happy, once I find out how to detect each possible OS and build environment. Maybe something like this? Although I am not entirely sure this is supported by every compiler (should work on mo...

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

If I remember correctly, I pointed Falcury to my previous post on this topic via a private message, but he didn't respond. He also hasn't posted for more than 9 months, plus barely visits any more. Could be he's busy, but maybe he decided to move on to other things. Sorry about the long delay respo...

Re: Nastier Dungeons

Before playing back the replay, you must add a directory "Nastier Dungeons" which includes the mod inside the mods/ directory. I don't know why this is necessary. As I've written before, and recently, and someone else then sided with my thinking: I thought replay files included the level ...

Re: speedrun world records

That's great to know! Might improve a couple of seconds. Is there a frame counter or something in SDLPoP? I tried counting the number of frames by repeatedly quickloading and comparing the time at the frame on which the kid lands on the floor below (by advancing the frame one by one using the escap...

The forum policy has been updated, allowing mods and patches.
Go ahead :)

Norbert wrote: February 7th, 2021, 3:00 pm Falcury, will you modify the sticky (or create a new one) to reflect policy?
Done.
Maybe the policy should still be specified a bit further, if we want to allow mods and patches only for Prince of Persia 3D specifically, and not for e.g. the SoT trilogy games. (Left unspecified for now.)

With cheat mode enabled, you can press T.
To have time counting up instead of down, you can change the starting minutes left from 60 to -1.

Re: speedrun world records

I think a small amount of time can be saved at the 'jump through gate' skip in level 7, bumping into the wall is not strictly necessary, it's enough to jump at the correct spot (see the attached SDLPoP replay).

Re: Is PoP3D abandonware?

However in my opinion we could avoid linking the full game in this forum, but allow mods and patches. I think it's good to keep the interest alive for all PoP games and i don't think Pop1 and 2 will risk anything about that. I agree, I think it is reasonable to allow PoP3D patches and mods on the f...

I changed the PHP handler back to 7.3 again.
Hopefully we will be able to fix the underlying issue soon.

atrueprincefanfrom18 wrote: January 6th, 2021, 4:11 pm On Linux, SDLPoP doesn't load the files which are cAsE sEnSiTiVe. Any fix that can be done?
Maybe there could be a failure path, where if the case-sensitive filename is not found, SDLPoP checks the directory listing and tries to select another file that matches case-insensitively.

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

There's no need, that is the method I used to upgrade phpBB to the latest version (3.3.2). (Actually, there is an extra step too, which is to reapply other changes specific to this forum, such as the logo and favicon images.) Because the issue occurs on the latest version, I assume it must either be...

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

I'm pretty sure this is because "the improved algo in php 7.3+ to hash passwords is not available in php7.2". Because "Have you been changing PHP versions up and then back down?" Both quotes from here: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=15539201#p15539201 I guess th...
