Ghost of Persia
Ghost of Persia
The trailer for the mod Ghost of Persia that I'll release on January 1st.
Re: Ghost of Persia
That looks intriguing, I'm looking forward to playing it
Re: Ghost of Persia
Wow, that's what I call minimalist graphics.
It reminds me of a "shadow world" idea that I once had. It would have been above the shadow fight, or something...
SNES level 17 also has a few ghost/shadow floors.
0:13 What's this thing with dying and losing?
0:15 What are those small green rectangles around the text?
0:20 I wonder how you made the blinking tiles... With torches?
0:22 Are those empty potions?
0:28 The tiles above the gates have some grey pattern. Does that mean anything? Are they buttons?
0:43 Why is the blood still red?
(BTW, seeking/jumping within the video is painfully slow.)
Interestingly, the Total Pack has a Character graphics set with this name.
It's probably not as confusing as having a levelset with the same name, though.

Re: Ghost of Persia
This mod is very easy, so the real challenge for each level is to never die.
If the player dies during a level, the player has forever lost that level.
(The player could retry and win the level, but it would no longer count as a win.)
Explaining the rectangles would be a spoiler, so I won't.
You're smart enough to figure it out for yourself.
The blinking tiles were torch flames, yes.
Those are indeed empty potions, and the gray pattern is just rubble.
I'm using some minor coloring here and there.
The blood, the loose tiles have some, the raise and drop buttons do.

Well, I hope the game won't be that frustrating it seems to be .

Re: Ghost of Persia
Seems to be the version for the first atari console.
Re: Ghost of Persia
I think it won't work with Total Pack, and anyway it seems too difficult!
Re: Ghost of Persia
If the challenge is to never die, you have to be prepared for everything. Looking for hidden platforms tile by tile can be crude ("blinking" clues are always visible, right?), if this task is not (a little bit) straightforward. Hopefully, if you claim the mod is easy, I believe you don't want to be cruel to the player that much (as some mods are).
Re: Ghost of Persia
I've decided to release this as an unfinished mod.
(I'm currently using my time and energy to work on other things instead.)
Download: Ghost_of_Persia.zip
I'll add it to popot.org later today.
[Edit: Done, here.]
And this spoiler explains how you know which blue potion to drink:

Re: Ghost of Persia
I no longer feel motivated to work on it.
It was fun to change the graphics to get the blinking tiles, but I don't feel like creating more levels.
Other things to do in life.
Re: Ghost of Persia
Too bad... But, you have all your life ahead. You can finish it, one day
May the Moon light your path.
