It's a very early build so some features (like the pause button) are not yet available but it works. 23 tracks waiting to be played.
Music from the Mac version
Re: Music from the Mac version
I've tried this program (also copied the DLL files to system/ and system32/), but got this error message:

Maybe it works under regular Windows though. I tried it on a GNU/Linux computer, using Wine.

Re: Music from the Mac version
It's supposed to work with everything in the same folder.
You can try installing the Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package. Maybe it will help.

Re: Music from the Mac version
The link in the first post is broken, so I post the ZIP here.
I can't start the program, though. It gives me an initialization error with the code 0xc0150002.
(Yes, I did install the linked redistributable package.)

Re: Music from the Mac version
Hey, good to see you back here!

The program works on my system. The music sounds very close to the original.
Did you use your disassembly of PoP2 to create this, like you did for your level viewer?
I would be curious to know more about it.
I could also float the idea here that, if you're interested, maybe we could try to create an experimental SDLPoP branch with Mac music support?
Re: Music from the Mac version
It was made from the Beatnik Audio Engine which is the descendent of SoundMusicSys, the original engine.

Hey, this is interesting:realXCV wrote: ↑May 5th, 2018, 3:20 pm It was made from the Beatnik Audio Engine which is the descendent of SoundMusicSys, the original engine.
So, this code is not just some attempt to recreate the original player, but a descendant of the original MIDI player that was used in PoP for the Mac OS!https://minibae.org wrote: As with any technology, there’s a story, and this one was an interesting one. The first version was created in 1991 by my business partner, Jim Nitchals, and myself. At that point it was called SoundMusicSys. Appearing in many successful video games for the Macintosh OS. Prince of Persia, Lemmings, Sim City to name a few.
Incredible!

Why didn't you tell this earlier?
Now, if only someone could figure out why does the music skip when running PoP1 in BasiliskII...
