Doing a speedrun of POP2...

Post by elbryan42 »

Hey, I hope this forum is still active.

Anyways, I've taken it upon myself to speedrun Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame for speed demos archive. Just wondering how my current final time is faring before I start recording.

Note that although I could get a better remaining time by picking up both life expansions on Caverns 1 (before the timer starts), it's faster overall to skip the second one and get a different one later.

My final remaining time is 43 minutes. I have 11 health bottles, so 8 life expansions in all.

How well did I do?

Just finished the last run, as I doubt I can do better. 45 mins remaining, 47:58, with cutscenes and save/load screens. So gameplaywise, 37:19. Now I have to get it encoded into avi and submit it to speed demos archive.

I was thinking about that. BTW, newest time remaining on the last run: 48 mins. :)

Sorry. Forgot to log in for the last post. :P

Oh, and about a guide, I have other FAQs on the go, namely an Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 multiplatform guide and a Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown guide.

On a side note, I converted the official POP1&2 strategy guide to HTML. Its at:

When official POP1&2 strategy guide has been published?
Maybe I can make translation into Polish?

I'm pretty sure it came out in 1993, when POP2 came out. I'd check, but it's packed in a box somewhere.

Moved to Power Playing subforum for PoP2.

Just to make something clear: I will not reply to daft PMs like "Where can I find X?" or "Can you give me a link to Y?". Most of your questions are likely answerable if only you took your bloody time to look through these forums and use Google if all else fails. Sheesh...
