Princed Resources V1.3 Download

Version 1.3 of PR is now available for download!
David has made even more improvements to PR; lots of fixes.
PR v1.3 is attached to this post (and also mirrored here).
Thanks David, for all the work you put into this.
It is recommended that everyone uses this new version over previous releases.

For a future version of PR, a couple of rename suggestions related to
VDUNGEON.DAT/vdungeon/chopper/blood/

res1314.bmp -> frame03_full.bmp
res1315.bmp -> frame04_full.bmp
res1316.bmp -> frame02_full.bmp
res1317.bmp -> frame01_full.bmp
res1318.bmp -> frame05_full.bmp
res1319.bmp -> frame03_left.bmp
res1320.bmp -> frame04_left.bmp
res1321.bmp -> frame02_left.bmp
res1322.bmp -> frame01_left.bmp
res1323.bmp -> frame05_left.bmp

Same for the palace resources (although 3 of the chomper frames have different names there).

The 38 "chopper"s can probably also be renamed to "chomper"s.
Lots of misspelled stuff in the resources.xml, unfortunately.
Getting better and better though. :)

The "behind pillar" images are actually the front parts of the chomper, that appear in front of the kid.
Also, "chomper" could be removed from the names -- the folder already says it.
Also interesting is that the IDs are ordered from closed to the most wide open, but this is not the order in which they are animated.

Okay, I done these in my copy.
I added "front" to some images where applies.
I also changed a few binaries in the guard folders to images. (Because they are, in fact, 1x1 pixel images. For example, the spiked vizier has no image, because it was not needed.)
Also fixed some misspellings and made resources.xml smaller.

Some other simple rename suggestions, related to vdungeon/floor panels:

- "normal right.bmp" -> "normal right and right unpressed.bmp" (Because it's also used for the unpressed of both the opener and closer.)
- "normal left.bmp" -> "normal left and closer left unpressed.bmp"
- "broken left02.bmp" -> "broken left foreground.bmp" (Usable for mods, because it's possible to use the broken tile to create something the prince can walk through, like an additional pillar set. [Edit: Except if loose tiles fall down they turn into pillars. :)])

Also, changing "normal_closer01.bmp" (and 02, 03) appears to do nothing at all...

I already renamed it to "broken front.bmp" (not yet released). Also renamed "pillar.bmp" to "pillar front.bmp" and "big pillar lower 02.bmp" to "big pillar lower front.bmp".

They are used when the kid climbs up/down (or hangs) on the left side of a floor. (Rename these to "floor front"?)
(Except if there is a big pillar top on the left side of the floor, but this is a bug.)

The latter was to give all PoP2 PLV files unique level numbers.
Currently, the level number appears to be 0x00 for all levels(!)...

[Edit: Oh, maybe change the directory name "door" to "gate" for both vdungeon and vpalace. Plus, the files in those directories don't need to start with "door ". And in "sword" "on the floor" instead of "in the floor". I hope it's okay that I suggest all this here instead of creating pull requests.]

kid/clipping -> climbing
kid/dieing -> dying

And maybe ask ecalot (github.com/ecalot) to look at the 1.3* entries in the changelog and ask him to add your name somewhere in this section? You've made so many improvements to PR over the years. (Perhaps simply give him a link to this post with my suggestion.) Maybe first update the changelog to include whatever has been added for a next release (maybe it's time again, the last was almost 3 years ago)?

Perhaps use chomped for
./kid/deaths/chopped.bmp
./vizier/chopped.bmp
./shadow/chopped.bmp
./digisnd2/something chopped.wav
./guards/chopped.bmp
./skel/chopped.bmp
./fat/chopped.bmp

Maybe go all lower case for everything.
This would mean lower casing the directories:
- CDUNGEON
- CPALACE
- EDUNGEON
- EPALACE
And the files:
- Jaffar death.mid
- meet Jaffar.mid
- story1 In the absence.mid
- story3 Jaffar comes.mid
- story4 Jaffar leaves.mid
- story5 Marry Jaffar, end level.mid
