I like how you eventually solved this (similar here and with Jaffar).

Yes, you can jump through guard, making it faster, but I wasn't able to find perfect position. It's most 2nd most difficult trick according to me, first one being Hard Jump (Jump Through Hole). Actually both are difficult on the same rank! Only SuavePrince can do it properly!
And You have to kill Jaffar that way, with no other choice available!

Finally this room is useful.

You can actually jump, but I failed twice while practicing it, so I chose this way, I guess it added 2 mins more.

The fat guard is scary this way; this section too.

I died few times while practice but that is the way. Because after dropping tile, you can't jump through him...

And such an unexpected solution for level 10. So much work without a sword...

Distance is the key... Nothing else. Rest is simple. Just that finding the right distance is the most difficult thing!

Yes, I watched the whole video - at double speed (YouTube's speed 2).
I tend to always use the extra speed option with PoP gameplay recordings.
Nice level 5 improvement, although your original solution is fine because it brings extra variety.

Yup, original is fine and easy, just one skip through guard, but it takes a lot of time... By the time you finish Level 5 with original solution, you could have completed Level 6 with the new one!
But it's upto the player what he prefers. I am sure, SuavePrince would go with the second solution!

Norbert, should I make some changes to the original LEVELS.DAT (with PRINCE.EXE, "Prince has sword" set to "N") and you can post this as a mod? Maybe as practice for people who want to go advanced?

Sure, that is a good idea.
Maybe first ask SuavePrince if there's really no way to pass those 4 remaining places where a sword is still required?
Who knows, he may know a crazy way to pass one of them...

According to SuavePrince, it's not possible to bypass them. Either you need sword or some distance to jump or kill them in some way.

I have changed 8 levels and am on Level 9. I want to change some elements so it doesn't feel you are just playing original PoP and it might not be interesting. I think I can finish it till this weekend.

All levels done, I have not modified much in some levels, but added some interesting puzzles in some sections and it's great fun to play, just keep in mind that you don't have the sword!

So, thanks to Crem we can now deal with the second guard of level 11 without the sword.


I kept my failed attempts, with some practice it would be possible 100% of the time (I didn't really look for visual cues to perform the jump).

Great job, this one really works out. I tried today with the next guard in the same level, but he just seems impossible to deal with. If he had turned to the other direction, it might have been possible.

So now, we just have three guards who are impossible to pass without sword.

It's possible to run jump through the fourth guard of level 2 (I wasn't able to do it myself but it's possible by air walking to the right before), but you end up too close from the guard and get killed. And the last of level 11 is quite impossible as you said.
On level 7, another way would be to go below to the extra-life potion but then you get stuck at the gate. Too bad.

Right... If there would have been possible ways for all of the guards, we could have posted the video on social media. And Mechner would have definitely been surprised!
