My level maps (advanced version)

Post by Adomatic »

Hello everyone! I've seen some level maps which were released on this site before, and I decided I can improve the idea a little, so I created my own maps. You can check them out on my personal site: http://adomatic06.narod.ru/

The improvements comparing to the maps of nohoval_turrets are:
1) no extra elements or screen parts (health bars, extra images of prince, etc.), just clear maps,
2) tiles with specific behavior are painted in specific colors,
3) all doors are numbered, every tile which opens or slams a door is marked with corresponding door number,
5) you can guess a common direction towards the level exit - start with the doors with smaller numbers and make your way to the doors with bigger numbers,
6) small health bars are placed near every guard so you know their health amount,
7) additional text tips are added (in English and Russian languages),
8) much smaller size (about 100 KB per level) due to optimized format without any quality loss.

There are also a few maps of Macintosh version (without any notations), I'm planning to add the rest in the near future. Prince of Persia 2 maps are also to be expected.

Enjoy!

Disabled smilies so paragraph 8 looks like it was supposed to be. -mk1995

Can always do with better maps, so nicely done indeed (especially the color-coding)! Image

Will be waiting for the PoP2 maps as well.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

Just added the 3rd level for Mac (if someone hasn't noticed Mac levels, you need to scroll to the right)...

I haven't found any cheats, most likely there aren't any at all :-)
I just move around and erase the prince image or restore fallen tiles if necessary (by copy-pasting tile images from somewhere nearby).

Now that's what I call comprehensive. Are you going to add the colour coding to the Mac maps, too?

Just to make something clear: I will not reply to daft PMs like "Where can I find X?" or "Can you give me a link to Y?". Most of your questions are likely answerable if only you took your bloody time to look through these forums and use Google if all else fails. Sheesh...

How did you take screenshots of the unreachable rooms on the Mac? Did you edit the levels or something?

Well, I didn't actually see those places, so they were recreated:
1) first, I pasted these unreachable fragments there from DOS maps, so I had a mixed map with both Mac and DOS graphics,
2) then, I put separate pieces like bricks, floor, etc. over these fragments so that they were placed just like they're supposed to be if I could see them on Mac :)
It's all done in Microsoft Paint, you see :-D

Well I don't know whether the Mac version contains the exact same unreachable rooms that the DOS version does, but Adomatic, hats off to you for what must have been a really painstaking job!

I'm most certain there should be such rooms, anyway, I feel more comfortable knowing that both versions of the maps have exactly the same size :-)
The job is not too hard, it's more a matter of skill :-]

Okay, it took quite a while (mostly because I had some other work to do almost all the time), but still, all Mac levels are now ready and color-coded the same way as PC levels! Enjoy :-D

Oh em gee! You did a splendid job on all that, Adomatic!

Are you going to do the same for PoP2?

Well, yes, I intend to, at least the PC-version (hope I'll find Mac version, too, and make it work :-) ).
