Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
Not really a trick, rather technique but I couldn't see it earlier (I haven't read entire topic).
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
As shown by yaqxsw here:
The trick is in turning around at the right time, which prevents the prince from being chomped/hit by a tile.

Go as left as you can, press up, then left.
It is possible to jump through a wall or a door-top in the same way.
Trick 7 is the same thing, but it shows a more difficult way.
Trick 37 also seems similar, except it has a chomper instead of the open gate.

Yes, it also works with those.David wrote:It is possible to jump through a wall or a door-top in the same way.
I've updated the video to reflect those findings.
(A page reload may be necessary for the video and its thumbnail to change, or even a reload of the actual video.)
With the room layout used for trick 37 - with the chomper, this trick doesn't work.David wrote:Trick 37 also seems similar, except it has a chomper instead of the open gate.

As shown by trick master yaqxsw here:
Jumping from the loose tile gives the prince just that little extra to jump over that second loose tile.

My trick Check it!
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
There's actually no need for the "press right again", which makes it easier to pull off.Norbert wrote:Yeah, that one is pretty cool.David wrote:I remember seeing a video of this trick done in the first room of the original level 10, but I can't find it.AuraDragon wrote:There was a trick to activate switches and things from behind a gate (GT; Gate, Trigger), I don't recall how to do it though, trying to figure it out again... If anyone remembers how to do that, please post here. Or for that matter any trick that isn't listed here.
However, I know how to do it:
Go as right as you can, then bump into the door to move away from it. Turn left. Turn right, press right again, and immediately press left.
Just keep the arrow key down and press the opposite arrow key at the right time.

If you find other usages of this overflow bug, let me know.
Re: Guide to Prince of Persia tricks (Large Topic)
I tried something similar on level 1 of the Mini underground mod.
Except: After climbing up, I didn't step to the edge. Instead I pressed Esc until the chomper closed, and then twice.
Unfortunately my method seems to work only if there is a wall under the ledge. So I couldn't jump away from the second chomper in that mod.
