The point of the video is that the game can be completed even if you skip to level 4 with Shift-L and thus reduce your time to 15 minutes.
It has the usual tricks: Skips big potions, skips fights, uses shortcuts (level 7, 12 -- but not level 4, 5).

So part of the credit goes to that commenter.

Maybe that's why the boss becomes blue and breaks when he is defeated?

Hmm... Aladdin (DOS) has something similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_jf6NAc-bo#t=1439
(More of them later on the level, and on the level starting around 43 min.)
Some walkthroughs (and the manual) describe them as Shiva statues.

Credit definitely goes to that person.
If I unintentionally came across as taking credit for anything but creating the video, then I apologize.

Yeah, I already posted one here.

And I found the video in that post via this: http://dcleadboot.deviantart.com/art/Pr ... -316692400
Hm... The "Update" part explains why it was removed and uploaded again.

But if I just search for "Prince of Persia" then most of the results are about the newer, 3D games.

Norbert wrote:Images from the official strategy guide (information at popuw.com).
I noticed that, on page 73 of the guide, the prince says "Allah, O Great and Merciful".
Could just be an expression, could be that the prince was a Muslim. (Which might make sense given the setting in ancient Persia?)
It's the Official Strategy Guide published by Brøderbund, written by Rusel DeMaria.
I would say that makes the guide canon.

also note the name jaafar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ja'far.

i think usually ancient persia means the Sasanian/pre Sasanian Persia, before the muslim conquest

It is page 83 in the scanned PDF, or just Level 8 in the HTML version.

I don't see many page numbers in the PDF, were they clipped?
Update:
No, they were just placed over the darkest part of the sword on every page...
