Hi guys, recently I had a small question, you will see
I downloaded the 3 versions (Japan, USA and Europe) and got a sfc instead of a smc
My question is: Is it possible to customize these file using the same hacks?
Or should I get a SMC to make things easier?

SMC or SFC
Re: SMC or SFC
Unless one of them has an extra header that the other doesn't, they're probably the same.
Re: SMC or SFC
I saw that sfc files can be loaded with Apoplexy and Pr1SNESLevEd.
I had no problem with the extension, and both have almost the same size.
My next mod 07 will probably use a Japanese version with SFC extension, I guess that Hex Hacks will be located in different offsets, but let's wait for David.

Re: SMC or SFC
As far as I know, SFC and SMC files have the same format.Emiliano Fierro wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 4:22 am I saw that sfc files can be loaded with Apoplexy and Pr1SNESLevEd.

If the level editors can open them then you should have no problems.
By the way, there is one SNES mod which uses the SFC extension: https://www.popot.org/custom_levels.php?mod=S000019

Also, where did you get the SFC files?
You can find PoP1 SNES on PoPOT with SMC extension: https://www.popot.org/get_the_games.php?game=1_SNES
Some hex hacks can have different offsets in the Japanese version, mostly those which are related to the intro, cutscenes, and the ending.Emiliano Fierro wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 4:22 am My next mod 07 will probably use a Japanese version with SFC extension, I guess that Hex Hacks will be located in different offsets, but let's wait for David.
Re: SMC or SFC
Maybe if I hurry, my mod 07 can be the second SNES mod using the SFC extensionDavid wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 6:43 pm By the way, there is one SNES mod which uses the SFC extension: https://www.popot.org/custom_levels.php?mod=S000019

I got them from wowroms.com
I want to try a file with another extension as most as possibleDavid wrote: ↑September 26th, 2020, 6:43 pm You can find PoP1 SNES on PoPOT with SMC extension: https://www.popot.org/get_the_games.php?game=1_SNES
Lo sospeché desde un principio (I suspected it since the begining)
I like the extended intro of the japanese version and some other general stuff that come from Japan

Re: SMC or SFC
Hello, you can manually change the SFC extension to SMC. After changing to SMC, pr1snesleved and apoplexy can directly load files and modify them. You can also use the simulator to open the game. I have tested it. After changing the game, you can manually change back to the SFC extension
Re: SMC or SFC
Thank you but, I don't think I would need to, I have a japanese version sfc and I use it normally, it has not given me problems for nowqq2807893292 wrote: ↑May 9th, 2022, 6:25 am Hello, you can manually change the SFC extension to SMC.
