PoP SNES - Which level visuals do you like most?

Post by mk1995 »

Long time ago at PoPUW, I made a "What's your favourite music from PoP SNES" poll. Now it's about the visuals. Which of these eight level areas is the most appealing to you?

For me, it's the Main Palace (Levels 13-15).

Upon request, I took screenshots of each area (sometimes two). Here they are:

I'll have to agree with Maurice. I dunno, I like the music there, and the architecture is beautiful.

Do you think you could post up some screenshots for us? I've never played it on the SNES so I only know what the dungeon levels look like.

Thanks Maurice!
I voted for the prison because the detail in that is just so amazing. The colour blending is excellent too.

Thanks. I was very careful about what to show in them. I wanted to give as much eye-candy as possible without showing the special sceneries (i.e. the ones where you battled the bosses, the outside areas and the looks onto the sky), so I went through a lot of nuisances. Especially because I wanted the prince (and occassional guards) to do some special poses. The shot of Level 18 (first picture of "Tower") was the most difficult to make, simply because I have only a short opportunity to hit Start and take the picture. As for the "Stone Palace" one, I had to lure the guard of the left neighbouring screen to that one, simply because that one looked better.

Well the Prison level certainly looks amazingly atmospheric and the Main Palace looks really beautiful. However, the design in the latter is mostly geometric and repetitive. On the other hand, that tapestry in the Royal Hallway is simply outstanding in terms of both detail as well as original design and thus gets my vote. :)
