can't pass through the first gate.
not enough time to get to it before it closes.
there's a wide gap between its floor switch and the gate itself.

i'm stuck. help! :'(

If you mean that when you die you respawn (live again) somewhere else...
That's because level 3 has a checkpoint.
When you leave room 7 to the left - that's the room with the gate that closes too fast to pass it - then you activate the checkpoint.
As soon as you die after that you'll respawn in room 2.
