But for the snes mod , for the competition you must choose which version? Version U, E or Japanese?
Hey, glad you like it.
SNES version doesn't matter, I would say.
Now that you mention the SNES mods, what's the best way to record walkthroughs of these?
Anyone with any experience in that department?

Snes9X (http://www.snes9x.com/) can also record videos.

EDIT: I looked at ZSnes, and it looks like to me that it records games by saving state + logging keypresses after that. The dumping tab can then be used to convert this into a real video.

I guess we can include the following two links to point the SNES folks in the right direction:
zsnes: http://lparchive.org/techsupport/guide-zsnesrecord.html
snes9x: http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=27473
If anyone has links to better English tutorials, we can use these links.

I will use the image for the websites to create one that we can use for the first contest.
I'll post it when I think it's ready, and then we can probably finalize the official rules and create a thread with the rules and a thread about the first contest.
Then the image can be added to popuw.com, princed.org and popot.org, and then I'll mass e-mail all forum members about the contest.

Here it is, what do you think?

Please look through the second draft of the official rules.
(I'll add the zsnes and snes9x links to the final version.)
If nobody has any further objections/suggestions, I'll start finalizing everything soon.

Well, I've done that, as most of you have probably already noticed.

I tried mass e-mailing all forum members (via this forum), but it seems to have failed.
Not sure why it didn't work...
I may try it again or I could trying mailing everyone from info@popot.org, via an e-mail client, in batches of 50 people per e-mail or something.
I'll look into it tomorrow.

I've tried it again, after unchecking "send immediately".
The e-mails should arrive within the next hour or so, since phpBB sends 50 people a minute (I think).
If nobody gets any e-mails, I'll use another method to contact everyone.

Well, that didn't work either.
So, now I'm just going to manually e-mail 50 forum members a day myself, starting right now.
It’s dogged that does it. (That's a proverb, more info about it here.)

Here is a simple three-step summary:
1. Modify Prince of Persia 1 the best you can.
(The DOS or SNES version.)
(You are allowed to work with one other person, if you want.)
2. Record walkthroughs of all the new levels of your work.
3. In October or November post on this forum: your work + links to the walkthroughs.

Ok , by cons to create a mod snes Lots is longer and requires much more work than the Dos box and the software pr1snesleved (david thank you once again) is much
longer than roomshaker for create a level :|

There are also pros, like more (versatile) traps and graphics.
Also, you don't have to use all rooms in all levels.
I've played 4-room levels that were far better than other 24-room levels.

It takes a lot of time and effort to play through the levels of, for example, Prince Unique. There are many mistakes that players can make, a lot of these mean having to restart the level. A lot of levels focus on tricks/bugs and are very difficult to finish. Such mods are definitely challenging, but they may be less 'playable'/enjoyable than simpler mods that focus on giving the player a fun experience. What is "fun" is subjective, of course, but still...
