I'm wondering why there are still so many 32-bit Windows users. Are illegal versions of Windows generally 32-bit, maybe? Are pre-installed versions of Windows on consumer PCs generally 32-bit? Maybe 64-bit Windows can't run 32-bit applications? Have Windows owners been continually upgrading their 32-bit systems, without a suitable/apparent option to move to 64-bit?
Also, if there's still such a large amount of 32-bit Windows users, which more or less forces developers to ship 32-bit programs, why would developers put in the extra effort to create 64-bit versions of their software?

It can. (See WoW64.) It's 16-bit applications that won't run on 64-bit Windows, as I wrote here. But I don't think that's really important for most users.

It looks like some people have managed to bring back support 16-bit applications on 64-bit Windows, by patching leaked Windows NT 4 source code for the NTVDM subsystem (see here). It looks like it would not be easy to build and install, though.

So, Microsoft apparently decided not to add support for 16-bit applications on their 64-bit OSes, even though they could (and still can) relatively easily do that.

ReactOS also added the NTVDM, and it can run old DOS games natively. ReactOS isn't 64-bit though, as far as I know.

Got myself a PS3 and a bunch of PS3 games.
Not enough AAA games for Linux on Steam.
So, now I'm gaming on PC (Steam, Linux), PS3 and iPhone.

I'm somewhat surprised that you use iPhone as opposed to Android.
Because, you know, you usually prefer free and open source software.
Then again, most games on Steam and PS3 are proprietary, as are probably most apps on both iPhone and Android.

Yeah, I can imagine. :)
Until recently, I didn't have any kind of smartphone.
But as a web developer, I more or less had to get one, for testing websites.
One of our companies sells refurbished smartphones.
My employer picked the phone and offered me a discount on it.
I didn't object to his pick (OS, color, etc), basically.
It has been useful for testing -webkit-overflow-scrolling CSS and such.

Playing The Talos Principle, which Norbert recommended to me. I like it so far. The puzzles are quite interesting. They are easy at the start, but they are becoming more challenging as I get near the end of the first world. The computer terminals are creepy and confusing.
Some gameplay elements remain unexplained, I guess I will find out about them later.

Glad you're enjoying it.
Make sure to enter the tower, and reach the top; a little something extra is added to the puzzles there that makes the experience quite unique.

I finished climbing the tower today!
Yes, the very last sequence of puzzles was definitely interesting.
Spoiler: show
The fifth floor of the tower has the last 'normal' puzzle (that one was quite tough). After that, a sequence begins where you have to keep steadily moving upwards while solving puzzles, as the world slowly disintegrates below you (you get destroyed if you go too slowly). And suddenly there are also AI players participating in the puzzles (one AI is cooperative, another tries to block your progress), which makes it almost like a multiplayer experience.
Now to find all the remaining secrets in the game... I was able to collect 11 stars so far, and figure out their purpose. But, I don't even know where to begin to collect the rest of them. I guess I will need to look up some hints...

Congrats. :)
Yeah, some stars are near impossible to find without looking up hints.

Several more of these on his channel, pretty entertaining to see the girls' reactions.
