No, a shoutbox will just become another Spambox.

We need an actual chat so people can communicate with eachother rather than just shout on topics long passed to people already offline\asleep.

The last forum I was in (ww-gaming, renamed to aspiration designs, and is now dieing by the 30th...) had a shoutbox and it was like a mini-forum topic in itself, which had no direction and would spiral ever which way with smilies and overused jokes.

If it is for the betterment of this site then I will accept it, even if I don't really like it.

While it is prone to spamming, it's better there than in important threads.
