Re: project/idea: modding competition
So the first contest would have only full length levels, other than that, no rules of what levels should be like. Sounds good. I think you missed it again. Prog's idea was to have "full-length" levels every second contest with 4 room levels, no guards levels, and SNES mods put inbetween i...

Re: project/idea: modding competition
I'm with programmer on the different kinds of contests. Maybe we could have one of each (normal levels, 4 room levels, no guards, SNES mods) for every quarter of the year. It would appeal to me more than having it like normal levels -- 4 room levels -- normal levels -- no guards -- normal levels -- ...

Re: project/idea: modding competition
Well, it's definitely advice on how to create better levels, so go for it.Norbert wrote:I was also thinking that the official rules should probably contain a link to this thread in the last ("ADVICE") section.

Re: My third levelset
Hey mk1995, that 2shared.com link is no longer valid. Can you re-upload it somewhere? I don't know. When I first uploaded it, it kinda faded into obscurity with nobody caring about it much, so I don't see the point. By the way, do you think you will finish these two? :P http://forum.princed.org/vie...

Re: project/idea: modding competition
Eh, why not? I haven't been very active when it comes to making new levels, but as a juror, I need only play others' mods as opposed to making any myself, so that's no issue.Norbert wrote:]By the way, so... do you want to be a juror?

Re: project/idea: modding competition
I'm alright with the first draft. But the contests should only take two months each. It'd suck if we barely got any sort of break. I've talked with poirot and we think semi-permanent jurors instead of permanent could be interesting, so 6 semi-permanent jurors in total who would alternate between con...

Re: PoP1 for DOS font?
I believe Avril Harrison was responsible for the title screen art, and only that. Still, if you can find the address of any of Joslyn or St. Louis, go for it. Mail them. And in any case, make sure you drop Mechner an e-mail, too.

Re: project/idea: modding competition
I'd say only DOS PoP1. Seconded. Some levels in PoP2 are flat-out uneditable (Levels 1, 2 and 14) because they use fullscreen images per room, and the ruins' background modifiers are impossible to figure out. PoP3D is even further out of the question, as you can't edit a lot of stuff there. The tex...

Re: Introducing myself
Well, there's Eagle-Head Priest 97, who's about 14 by now, I reckon. Otherwise, the closest to our age would be Veke and Balanced (both are currently 17). The rest of the community is about in their 20s/30s.

Re: Introducing myself
We used to have a PoP fan from Brazil here, but he was a jerk. He went around, always demanding to be made a moderator, threatening to withhold self-written programs (particularly a PoP1 level editor that was a complete rip-off of RoomShaker, except for maybe that it allowed odd room linking), and g...

Re: project/idea: modding competition
Considering the (for the current circumstances) low amount of possible participants, we should either lay off from using teams altogether, or put them in groups of only two at most. Otherwise we won't have enough entries. If the amount of participants increases, we can also increase the amount of ma...
