Spoiler: show
That room will only open if you finished level 1 without getting the sword. (Then, you can get the sword in this room.)

Re: Mod: Secrets of the Citadel

Passed level 1 in the standard. In megahit I can't get out, zhotya opened the door, and the transition to level 2 does not work? The mod is designed to work with a modified version of SDLPoP (secrets.exe). Using the LEVELS.DAT in DOS will not work. interestingly, the further I pass-time itself is a...

Re: Mod: Secrets of the Citadel

Falcury! Author! Level 1. Tell me, is it possible to pass the guard in room 16, without a sword? Yes, it is possible: You need to make sure he never hears you, so he never turns around to face you. To stay silent, you need to approach from below, and let the loose tiles fall one by one. Edit: Oh, a...

Re: Mod: Secrets of the Citadel

I was experimenting with positional audio , and I figured it might be interesting to try out this feature with my mod. So, here is Secrets of the Citadel v1.3, with positional audio included as an experimental feature. (The positional audio feature allows you to hear the direction sounds are coming ...

Re: Forum spam

One solution I've used is to make the verification question a text that says they need to email and explain why they want to join. And then if the explanation is sufficient, give them the impossible-to-guess response they can use to register. That way the registration processes might be too much of...

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

I tried to update the forum software to the latest version (phpBB 3.3), but it turns out that this requires PHP 7.1.3, which the webserver is not yet running. So, instead I updated to the next latest version (phpBB 3.2.9), which should still be fine, for now.

Re: Directional sound

Some more progress: https://github.com/Falcury/SDLPoP/commit/6e59c8e703af2cd6b53d933b89abdd978161d26b perhaps the effect could also be applied to tiles in columns 1-3 and 7-10, regardless of where the prince is? Or even depending on where the prince is, e.g. with sword fighting. * When a piece of th...

Re: SDLPoP; David's open-source port of PoP

I’ve started to implement this. Here is my first attempt: https://github.com/Falcury/SDLPoP/commit/b2fac76c961388c7ce622b0b154a33f76f800ea3 It also seemed to make sense to make distant sounds softer, so I did that as well. This also works with loose tiles crashing in rooms below you. Multiple thing...

Maybe multiple sound sources should be allowed to be mixed together.
Broken room links are also a problem.

Re: SDLPoP; David's open-source port of PoP

Dunno how easy/useful it would be to add, but... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CxgnWaZ8zk&t=341 (about an opening gate) "[...] there's no stereo sound in Prince of Persia, so I can't tell. That'll be interesting to add." [Edit:] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7gg_DTLqlM&t=589...

Yes, for sure. The backup interval is roughly every two weeks.
I am unable to be a very active contributor at the forum at the moment, mostly due to my day job consuming a lot of (actually nearly all of) my time and energy... (Still, I do read all new posts and am on standby if urgent things crop up.)

Re: SDLPoP; David's open-source port of PoP

Is this mostly for testing, or a suitable replacement for (upgrade of) SDLPoP-1.18.1.dmg here ? Yes, it would probably be fine to update/replace the download package with this one. I have just now tested it again, it seems to work as expected on Mac OS 10.6 and 10.14. Although it's probably best if...
