An odd sound in the demo level

In the demo level of PoP1 SNES, I can hear an odd sound effect before the prince jumps over to the potion. demo_level_sound_here.png So what can it be? If I remove the first gate of the level, then I don't hear this sound. So I think it's the sound made by that gate when it fully closes. I can't hea...

Re: Forum spam

The extension will check against a threshold (e.g., the number of times a user name, email or IP address is found within the stop forum database) Unfortunately, these spammers seem to use a different username and IP address every time... (I don't know about the email.) It would probably be more use...

Was this fixed?
I could re-check, but maybe someone already knows the status.
I fixed it now: https://github.com/NagyD/SDLPoP/commit/ ... b335729a43
Took only a few minutes.
I don't know why didn't I solve this when you reported it...

Aram Sev. uploaded this a while back:
Reminds me of the "Real Prince of Persia!" video: viewtopic.php?p=11653#p11653

I recognize the music that plays during the gameplay, it's from PoP NES.
Also, at 1:12 a closer button opens then exit.

Re: Forum spam

I installed and enabled that extension. Hopefully it helps. Unfortunately we still got the usual "PC Games" spam from India, and some other as well. The extension has an option to report users or posts to a central database: Ability to report a users post to Stop Forum Spam database with API key fr...

Re: How to make NES passwords

I've posted a link to this thread in the Russian thread about NESPrincEd. My reasoning is that maybe it's also interesting to some of the folks there. It seems that they already know how the passwords are made. There is a password generator written in BASH, here: https://habrahabr.ru/post/193406/ T...

How to make NES passwords

I could not find any information on the web about how to make passwords for PoP1 NES. So here is what I found out: The password consists of 8 decimal digits: Digit #1: (minutes div 10 + digit #3) mod 10 Digit #2: ((level - 1) mod 4 + digit #3) mod 10 Digit #3: anything Digit #4: (minutes mod 10 + di...

That That? ...that reminds me of this . :P Oh great, another sentence that I forgot to finish. What's with me recently? Maybe it's just because I posted quite late in the night. It was after 21:30 in this case and after 22:30 in the other case. That's quite late, especially in the winter. Anyway, I...

Re: Various

Theoretically, a program could be created that takes the standing prince image normal.bmp (from the PR output) and then generates all other prince images from that. Because roughly speaking each pixel either moves to another location, in some cases 'stretches' to multiple pixels, or disappears. Tha...

PoP concept art (Mechner's drawings)

PoPOT already has some of Mechner's old drawings: https://www.popot.org/get_the_games.php?extra=PoP1_drawings I found some more here: http://www.mobygames.com/game/prince-of-persia/promo/groupId,25853/ Not all of these are drawings, some are scripts or descriptions of the characters. The first versi...

Why are there no vowels on the password screen?

PoP1 for the SNES has two versions: one for Japan, and another for Europe and the USA. One difference between the two versions is the passwords. Not only the generated passwords are different, but the available characters are also different: SNES_PoP_comparison.png The question is: Why are the vowel...

Re: SNES Mod: The Quiet Levels

That won't work currently, because Kaslghnoon changed the "alphabet" used by the passwords. ("E7BPH9V25NU1ZMATGDW6SK0Y8XR4FJ3C", In the ROM image: offset 0x15E38, 32 bytes.) Maybe it could be added into the "Game country" list? Actually, he changed more than just the alphabet. Some time ago I tried...

I just realized that Jaffar wears just as much pink as the princess... :?
But only in the DOS (and the Amiga) version.
