Re: PoP for the Atari ST

@tacosalad, your video is set to private No...even weirder. It's set to draft now. It certainly was public when I copy/pasted the link yesterday, but now the publication time has disappeared and the link is no longer available. Youtube DRAFT mode.png I've never seen a DRAFT before -- I wonder what ...

Re: PoP for the Atari ST

During my playthrough I also found two bugs which are familiar from Apple II PoP. The first bug is where killing a guard on a button will open the wrong gates. (Another post about it) I killed the first guard of level 8 on the button near him. Yet the gate triggered by that button did not stay open...

Re: (Small) differences between Apple II and DOS levels

Here's a not-so-small difference between Apple II and DOS: the timed-door shortcut in Level 8 Level 8 has a series of 3 closely-timed doors that you must dash through before they can close. At least, that's how it ordinarily plays. Here's the timed-door shortcut... On the Apple II, if you manage to ...

Re: PoP versions where the slow-fall potion changes the screen's colors

On top of all that, emulators impact gameplay, as you wrote. This includes their customizable settings, such as which exact Apple II model to emulate (II, II+, IIe, IIc, IIGS). I may give various disk images a try in various emulators to see which combinations change the screen colors... Here's a B...

Re: PoP versions where the slow-fall potion changes the screen's colors

It looks like it does happen on the AppleWin emulator: https://youtu.be/embxlnm5r2w?t=1930. It's odd that an emulator wouldn't support it, but it's possible, I suppose. Do you guys know if the Apple II game had different revisions like the DOS port? Maybe the effect was added later? Ooo, lucky timi...

Re: post suggestions here

Plus I've done enough live debugging of prince.exe to learn that (unlike the Apple II version) it doesn't update the room blueprints to reflect changes like (like potions drunk) during game play; it tracks changes separately from the room blueprints. But I haven't debugged it enough to explain it c...

Re: post suggestions here

invisible tile This is actually one tile I missed when I worked on the Additions to "Room Mapping" (3.4.2) document... ...because it's invisible. What foreground and modifier numbers did you use to create your sample video? Oops, I've made a mistake--this tile won't work in LEVELS.DAT. Th...

Re: post suggestions here

When clearing a room or level, also remove guards. This would solve an existing issue with the "Rescue Level" (14) that it's currently impossible to remove a guard if a particular room already contains one. Since Apoplexy doesn't let you edit guards on level 14 (because there shouldn't be...

Re: Prince of Wateria

Ugh. I tried playing the mod yesterday. Didn't put much time into it, as it was late at night, but I was unable to advance more than a single room in Level 1 for now. Goes to show how rusty I've become... Somehow, I don't feel like I'm going to enjoy the difficulty... Switch gears and treat it like...

Re: My level sets.

If the original author doesn't mind and if he's not around then assuming he won't (I don't see why he would), would you do the honors and provide a release with both the tile and event fixed? I'm sure many would be grateful. As yet I haven't made contact with the author, but I've here is a correcte...

Re: Documentation (Prince of Persia 1 Special Events)

PS: I will explain the undocumented tile-change event in level 4 shortly. In "Delusions" I used it to selectively transform a Weightless potion into a Health potion, but it could be used to cause all sorts of other interesting transformations too! You already did it here: http://forum.pri...

Level 7 - FREAKY TRIP!

Here's the "freaky trip" for which level 7 was titled. This is not a solution, but it's one of my favorite wacky experiences!

Re: Documentation (Prince of Persia 1 Special Events)

Which event is x ? It depends. By default x is event 1, but sometimes it moves to event 2 or event 3 for a particular level. Evidently it's an unintentional behavior, but once you've identified event x for a particular level design it will behave predictably according to this flowchart... Further t...

Re: Documentation (Prince of Persia 1 Special Events)

Yes I've seen some of these in your new mod. :) I'd guess the same method is used for the automatic triggers on level 1 (close the door behind the prince), and level 13 (open level door after Jaffar died, and maybe the falling floors). Good observations. A few details worth documenting: Delusions l...
