MIDI support

I would like to look into adding support for (AdLib) MIDI sounds in a future release. As was requested and discussed some time ago on GitHub: https://github.com/NagyD/SDLPoP/issues/25 On GitHub, myself600 recommended integrating Chocolate Doom's OPL code I looked at that code a bit, and it seems lik...

Re: Pause menu

But then the menu bar is not visible? Start a new game, then press Escape to bring up the menu. (There is no menu bar though. That idea for SDLPoP was dropped some time ago.) NB. If you want to quote another post, you can use this button: phpBB_quote_button.png Or, manually enclose the quoted text ...

Re: SDLPoP; David's open-source port of PoP

Another fix that could be part of the use_fixes_and_enhancements bit is that merging with the shadow requires waiting for the music or flashing to end before the hidden tiles show up/work. Yeah, good idea, that has always annoyed me! Edit: Here's the proposed fix: https://github.com/NagyD/SDLPoP/pu...

Re: Your thoughts on adding a playtest pop-up with options?

And then there is the challenge of launching the game for each option without messing up the prince/ files. Should a 4th requirement be added for native PoP1 implementations that want to function as drop-in replacements, namely a command-line option that specifies where the DAT files are (which, fo...

Re: Pause menu

Right now, if you load a mod that has custom options in a mod.ini file, I think the menu system would (blindly) follow whatever was configured in mod.ini. Then, if you change any setting and close the menu again, SDLPoP.cfg would get saved with those modified settings applied. Then, if you switch t...

Re: Pause menu

Writes that on the computer there is no file: VCRUNTIME140D.dll What is it? Or it is possible to learn about all functions (keys) of the program SDLPoP - 1.18 ? Thank you for reporting the problem. Try replacing prince.exe with the (hopefully fixed) executable in the attachment. Let me know if it w...

Re: Random off-topic stuff

It's 16-bit applications that won't run on 64-bit Windows, as I wrote here . But I don't think that's really important for most users. It looks like some people have managed to bring back support 16-bit applications on 64-bit Windows, by patching leaked Windows NT 4 source code for the NTVDM subsys...

Right, I merged #154 and fixed the project files: https://github.com/NagyD/SDLPoP/commits/master
Thanks! :)
By the way, do you usually update the Dev-C++ project files by hand, or does Dev-C++ automatically do that when the new file is added?

Re: Pause menu

I merged #153 into master, then I tried to merge #154 , but there were some ugly merge conflicts. So I undid the merge with `git pull`, `git reset --hard <previous revision>` and `git push --force`. Is it okay If I merge only #154? Since it "Includes #153". (Why does #153 still say "merged commit"?...

Re: Your thoughts on adding a playtest pop-up with options?

I think it's a good idea. For SDLPoP, we should probably change the "mod" command-line parameter so that it allows passing the full path to the directory containing the modified DAT files. Then SDLPoP would meet the requirement you mentioned. Right now that parameter only accepts the directory name/...

Re: Pause menu

Progress: * Squashed the commits on GitHub into a single commit on a new branch. * The binary config file SDLPoP.cfg is now also ignored if the CRC-32 of the prince executable changes (ensuring that we don't ever need to worry about the danger of the config file being exchanged between different ver...
