Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

No more news since April?? Would you maybe like to help out with posting news updates? Your help would be most welcome! For me, catching up on stuff will probably have to wait until the end of August; I'll have more time available around that date. Edit: Because it is out of date, I've made the Ann...

Re: Modding enhancements that exceeds original game

Considering this port is backward compatible with original levels and mods I suspect that all game data limitations from the original DOS version are still there (max 13 levels, 24 rooms, 1 enemy type on a single level etc.). Yes, that's absolutely correct! I'm wondering if SDL-PoP aims to lift the...

Re: SDLPoP Built-in level editor

Here's an updated editor build. Other minor changes that I made just now (not final, just proposed): ⋅ Executable name: editor.exe ⋅ Changed the version name from "1.17" to "1.17 - editor" to distinguish from the normal editorless version ⋅ Changed t...

Re: Renaming DLLs

It's a shame that Windows DLL files don't start with 32 or 64 depending on whether they are 32-bit or 64-bit, e.g. 32SDL2.DLL. That would make it easier to ship a single package with both 32-bit and 64-bit executables. Currently, to have a 'runnable' file in the root (top level) directory, you need...

Re: Development of random level generator for PoP1 using genetic algorithm

This is very interesting. It's nice that they we able to use Prince of Persia for that research. This reminds me of Spelunky , which has randomly generated dungeons. Every time you play the game, the layout is different. It's brutally hard as well... This lecture also springs to my mind: https://www...

Re: The Fighting Styles

There's also something strange going on at the end of the last video ("Defence"). I don't think I've seen that glitch before... When I first starting playing PoP, I used to defeat all guards by waiting for them to advance and timing the sword hit precisely. That was a safe strategy and wor...

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

It seems I'm building up a list of things to do...
It's theoretically possible that updating the board to phpBB 3.2 will help for the bugs in the forum configuration pages. Maybe we should do that soon in any case.
When we do the update, I could also look at replacing the AJAX chat frame.

Re: PoP anagrams

This is hilarious! So many possibilities...
My attempt at making a few of them myself:

reprise of panic
praise of pincer
in safe proper ice
sappier conifer
parsnip rice foe
sonic paper fire

Re: Mod: Secrets of the Citadel

In level 1, when I get the sword, then press Ctrl+a, then go to a guard, I still have the sword. I don't know if this is specific to this mod or an issue in SDLPoP. I think I know what the cause of this bug is. It's specific to this mod, because it's a side effect of one of the changes I made. In t...

OK, here goes!
I am not confident at all of my answers...

Spoiler: show
Question 1: B
Question 2: C
Question 3: B (if only to complete the pattern!)

Edit:
I got 2 out of 3 :)

Re: SDLPop Technical Questions

1 - Where are the X and Y increments located for the sprite movements of the kid, guards, jaffar, etc? I can't find them looking at the source code. Take a look at seqtbl.c, which contains the sequence table. It contains the frames and X and Y increments for the animation sequences. A pointer into ...

Re: poplaun 0.1

Nice job! I tested it in VirtualBox under Debian, works fantastic. Maybe you could add in the documentation that DOSBox and zsnes are not included, and should be installed/downloaded separately for playing the DOS and SNES mods? Just downloaded the Windows version. I am getting many warnings like th...

Re: princed.org (phpBB forum + webpages)

Maybe some time after February 21st the Princed e-mail functionality broke. I already had a hunch users no longer get e-mail notifications. And now someone on popot.org writes they didn't get an e-mail after registering. [Edit: Never mind, I just got an e-mail about a new private message. By the wa...

Re: Random off-topic stuff

I really want to try this.
Unfortunately I think it will be some time before I get around to buying a Vive. Maybe I should just wait for the second generation...
Not entirely unrelated: how great would it be if somebody found a way to make the hyperbolic time chamber possible.

Re: SDLPoP Fonts Format

It's only at the beginning of hc_font_data. Probably, rawfont_type is a more accurate description: typedef struct rawfont_type { byte first_char; byte last_char; short height_above_baseline; short height_below_baseline; short space_between_lines; short space_between_chars; word offsets[0]; } rawfont...
